Default West coat BoatUS towing service?

Looking to get some towing services. I usually don't tow more than 70-80 miles from home and only fish at the very most 20-30 miles from where I launch. Usually just 5-10 miles.

I fish the SF Bay, Delta and Monterey area. Is boatUS a good choice?

I'm a little confused the difference between Unlimietd and Unlimited gold.

Gold - restricted dock and from home dock or mooring to a repair facility.

Unlimited - restricted dock tows and 50% payment from home dock or mooring to a repair facility.

what does this mean?

SeaTow is another option. They’ll come and get you on the water even down the coast of Baja where we fish.

be aware that if your boat is really tall on the trailer - nobody - can recover it. The lowest lowboy out there is about 30” and if that puts you over 14 feet tall repair is the only option. Ask how I know...

My boat is only 21ft with a hard top... all in maybe 11ft while on trailer? But yah, I'd hate to see the boat ram into an overpass. lol

I'm not familar with SeaTow, years ago when I went out alot, I had BoatUS when it was still called vessel assist. I'm getting ready to get back on the water so I'm doing my homework again in case something change.

Ultimately, I'd like to be covere to cover me while I'm towing the boat and if I have a break down, I'd like to get a tow back to the launch.

The dock to dock and repair facility verbiage in the contract is for moored boats not trailered.

Gold pays 50% of trailer assist

unlimited gold with the extra $14 for trailer assist covers 100%

for an extra $35 a year its a no brainer

On the West Coast theGold package has a larger free towing area of within 50 miles vs the unlimited which is only 30 miles. Gold also tows from any from dock with full payment instead of the half payment under unlimited. I think the Unlimited name can be confusing as it has limits.

for locations

https://www.boatus.com/servicelocator shows locations in San Fran and Santa Cruz

https://www.seatow.com/service-locator shows no northern CA locations.

It appears as if you are not getting many responses and I believe that this is primarily an East Coast group. You might want to post on Bloody decks as they are more dominant on the west coast.

thanks for all the responses. I'll check BD and maybe even call BoatUS. It's an insurance everyone hope we never have to use but when we need it, we gotta make sure it works!
