Default Short Guy Needs Step for Helm Station

Hey, guys. Just got into a new-to-me Hydra Sports 3500 VX. I'm very pleased with the boat but the sight lines aren't great...for me anyway. I feel like when I'm underway, I'd like to be about 6" taller. Anyone know of a fold-down step I could maybe mount below the seat?

I second Birdsall.I installed one on my console as a foot rest and a step to better reach into my overhead box.A little pricey but good quality.Through bolted mine with a good sized backing plate.

Not sure exactly what youre looking for but this place makes a fold down footrest. Ive heard they will customize if you need something special.

I built a box to stand on out of starboard and used sea deck to top it. Fits between leaning post and console. Put hinges on it and it opens as a storage for weights and tag lines and ect

Assuming you have a leaning post(?), so a folding footrest would give you at least 6" of height. If you have a leaning post w/o a folding footrest, I think the above posters are saying you could have one fabricated.

When my daughters were young, they stood on it all the time, in order to see over the console.....

I bought a 3 or 4 inch plastic stand that was made for coming out of a bath or shower. It has rubber feet and works great to stand on at helm. It's been a few years but I'll try to find where I purchased it and will edit to provide link.

I too am very short. I think boat outfitters make a starboard box step stool. My helm isn’t giant but I bought a spare windshield and cut down and that I can easily look over rather than thru and was best im0rovement yet. Worth some loss of wind / weather for not looking thru dirty windshield all day.

PM me, I won't be home for a week, but may have what you need. We just need to confirm dimensions. It's a aluminum fold down step. That did not fit my use.

Here are some pics of a custom 6 inch step by Andros Boatworks on my Tarpon 26. I'm sure they would help you and there are probably many fabricators that could help also. It works just great for me.

How's the gym stepper when it comes to stability? My Pioneer has a high cc and I'm 5'7" myself. I could definitely use a few more inches when navigating.

Very nice! That's what I'm looking for! I'll give Andros a call.
