Default Man 800hp Opinions - Viking

Looking at a late 90s Viking convertibles with Man 2848 403s at 800hp with about 3000+ hours and interested to hear from anyone with first hand experience on reliability these hours. Would plan to keep boat 5-7 years.

great motors, find out what's been done to them. If nothing , your are going to spend some money to get them back in shape . Do all the heads if they have not been done . The valves break off and cause trouble . I watched a engine inspection on a 53 with 800's yesterday done by Bayside . They had to stop when they found a bad injector. What ever the buyer paid for the inspection he saved on the injector repair . Make sure its not over propped and runs at spec, over wheeling messes up the ratios on those motors and causes high block temps.

What year and as others have said Maintenance records are key. If they haven’t been taken care of you will pay dearly in the long run.

Great motors? Sounds like they're a prissy gf or ex gf.
