VP SX-M replacement - LH vs RH

OK, so my port outdrive finally succumbed to years of saltwater abuse (previous owner). It is leaking around the shaft seals, the seal holder is so corroded it is fused with the housing, the lower unit has a hairline fracture, the upper unit has a hairline fracture near the top cover, and 2 years ago I had to do a 3m 5200 repair on the coolant channel as it had corroded through and was sucking air when on plane (at least that's still holding
)
I am getting some conflicting reports on a replacement though, since this is a left-handed propeller. Some say that requires a different drive (as it does with Mercs), and some say with VP it is all one drive, and rotation is determined by on which side the shift cable is attached to the shift lever.
Does anybody have any more insight?
Also, any recommendations on where to buy a new unit? I'd like to shy away from rebuilds.
