parker 23 deep v pilot house
 
Looking to hear from owners of a parker 23 pilot house deep v. I have always heard they pound? I understand that the driving position is very far forward, so you will feel more of the bumps. I am looking to purchase one and have not been on one yet, I love the idea of a closed in pilot house, but don't want a boat that pounds in a 1 ft chop. any one care to provide an honest opinion.

You'll get more responses in the boating forum, but i think the pounding is more of a problem with the mod-v.

I have one. 1.5 years in, I think it is fine, BUT I don't have all the ocean experience many have, and I am coming from a 22' bay boat. I put a permatrim and a Rev 4 on it, so I slow down and trim it down when it gets rough. I also raised the motor. It does bow-steer more when you have it trimmed down like that. I think a big part of the pounding you hear about is literally from the extra noise being amplified in the pilot house. Heading straight into Chesapeake bay short period 3 footers is not fun, but you are dry. I have the extra helm, so when doing short drifts, I never really go in the pilothouse. It is pretty awesome to get all the way out of the sun when you want.
There are however times I wish I had gone with the 23DVCC. Basically the same hull and the same boat from the split in the gunwhale to the transom. Then I get caught in a summertime thunderstorm and I'm loving it again.

I have the 23 DVCC, so same hull bottom with a different layout topside. I find the boat has a great ride and offers a good balance of ride and stability at drift. My boat does not pound. It is not a 24 degree offshore hull, but it has a decent ride. The Parker 23 foot DV hull is considered their best riding hull. Anyone who says a DV Parker hull pounds could use some pointers on how to set up and operate the boat.

The hull requires some work to dial it in with the right prop and engine height. From the factory, it will be slightly over propped and the engine will be mounted all the way down and hence too deep. A stern lifting prop will really help the hull stay on plane at lower speeds. Mounting the engine in the middle holes will also improve ride, responsiveness, and fuel economy. The hull is also responsive to trim tab input even though the factory tabs are smallish.

The mod-vee boats have a rougher ride when people push them too fast for conditions. The factory prop and engine height just make it worse.

The DV is worlds better than the MV. MV is pounding and more pounding.

The DV is much better . But you still ride way forward and Parker's carry a lot of their beam very far forward.
Tabs are your friend.

There a reason why they quit building the Smaller MV's cabin style. Complete beat down.

I had a 2011 2320 SL with 225 Yamaha raised engine 2 holes up and put a Sea Suspension pedestal under my arse and never looked back. The 2320 was a very good boat on Lake Erie in 90* temp with all the windows and door open the cabin was cool, also dry with windows closed. I think Parker offers the pedestal as a factory option, Classic Parker is a great web site for information.

i have a Henriques so you cant compare, i have friends with 23 ft n 25ft both boats you can lose your fillings in 2 to 3 ft chop there are a ton of better riding boats like gradys n whalers i cant speak about the 28 parker havent never been on one good luck in your search

You dont buy Parker's for the ride. You buy them for the ridiculous amount of deck space. They're among the best in terms of deck space, but they're not going to shine in chop.
