Boat wrap failure

We recently had our 2001 Mariah 302Z "professionally" wrapped. The installer used 5 ft vertical panels instead of one long horizontal panel, which left a total of 25 obvious and irregular seams. The design is amazing, the install is horrific. I sent a professional email expressing my dissatisfaction and no reply. Any suggestions?

Wait and see what installer has to say and get prices from others to re-do to your satisfaction. Oh ,,,,,,,,,,ALOT OF PICTURE'S

did you pay?

how did you pay?

why did you pay if you were not satisified?

what did your contract say?

was the person a real "pro" authorized to install by the wrap manufacturer?

did you look at their work on other boats before?

have you read their reviews? left your own?

did you get a copy of their insurance before you let them touch your boat?

did you send certified mail?

letter on attorney letter head?

small claims?

lets see pics!!

OP only has 1 post, so can't do pics yet, but I agree....I want to see this monstrosity lol

PM me photos so I can post in the thread so you can get more detailed answers about your crummy situation.

This sounds more like a disappointment than a "Failure," and I'm certain the OP will not receive satisfaction from the company that installed the wrap. It sounds like assumptions were made by the OP, and the project was not discussed completely with the installer. I'm pretty sure it's common for large wraps to be installed in shorter sections, that's how I've seen it done on road vehicles.

E-mail is not the proper avenue for addressing this either. It should have been done at the time that payment was made, post inspection of the job.

I helped do a 37 ft boat. 2 pieces were used.

He obviously had a 60+ inch printer. The only reason I can think of why he would have done this is he installed it by himself, and it is a bunch easier handling and installing a 60' panel over a 5' x 30+ foot panel with one person. Has to look horrible!:banghead:

You didn't pay him until you saw the job complete did you?

Marlin009 10-02-2020 01:32 PM

How do you get 25 seams on a 30' boat?

Welcome to THT Jess!
Just so you know-It's always the OP's (original poster's) fault. Didn't take long for me to figure that one out.

It's ugly? Is that a problem? Does it leak? Has it torn open?

Does it flap around in the wind?

chasvalve 10-02-2020 05:31 PM

Was it a low-bid contract?

Sonic04GT 10-02-2020 06:15 PM

Jkcam 10-03-2020 01:40 AM
