I'm looking at a 1989 luhrs 290 tournament. It has 5.7 crusaders with 500 hrs on them. Would love any thoughts on this boat. Looking to do some offshore fishing from time to time. Thanks..

How's it look? Are the crusaders original?

I owned a 29 Luhrs. I have owned many boats from small boats to a 74 Hatteras. This Luhrs model was the worst boat I have ever owned. I would not ride level. It would shift from side to side on its keel. It was a very serious design flaw. Do not buy this boat. You will regret it.

Unless you are getting it for a short song, I would look elsewhere. Dollar for dollar there are much much better choices than a 30+ year old gas powered Luhrs. Now if it really is just a few grand, why not?

Would really like to share good feedback on this boat as I think it has a great layout inside and out...and fills a niche in the pocket sport fish market. BUT, have to heavily agree with poster above. You could be riding along nice and level in calm water and for no reason at all the boat would lean heavily to one side or the other. When I say lean, it was a scary and dangerous lean. It’s an issue and I’m not sure if anyone solved for it. The Luhrs we ran was the same - 5.7 gas.
