Default Boat sale title question.

My neighbor moved to Florida from Kentucky. He bought a 26 scarab from someone up there and brought it back to Fl. He has a bill of sale and had the title signed by the seller. He went to register it in Florida and they told him since the sellers father is also on the title he needed to sign.

My neighbor contacted the seller via text letting him know the issue. Sell said no worries send mail the title back are he would take care of it.

The neighbor did and the seller texted him saying he received the title and he would take care of it the next day. Thats it, weeks later no response, no return message. The neighbor sent a certified letter asking the status. It was received still no reply. Any advice?

Take bill of sale and apply for lost title.

A power of attorney from the father to sign on his behalf would have worked. I know it’s not helpful but I would never have sent him the title. Track the father down and call him.

This. Florida has a POA form just for this. I would also recommend getting two copies of everything (well, except the title).
