Sorry to hear about this, man. That just sucks - the 2nd loss is one thing, then you have another window to replace. Was the last time in a hotel area likewise in same town or elsewhere? I haven't heard alot about this, but I only have a Sirius Sportster on my truck, no removable GPS unit. Thanks for sharing your story and hope you get some relief this time.

I hate that chit. It probably will cost more to replace the window that the GPS cost new.

Happened to me once, kids busted out drivers window to get the stereo out of the dash. Tore up the dash, didn't get the radio, took about $3 worth of empty cans an bottles and left about $300 worth of craftsman tools in the back seat. Go figure.

I think theres a market for GPS look-alikes that actually contain some C4, a battery, and igniter on the power switch. Leave one on your car seat. Then just listen, and follow the ambulances to get the rest of your stuff missing from the car back.

Sorry to hear the news.

When I lived in an apt, I had a $1000+ T-Top panel smashed out to steal a used radar detector. I never locked the doors again until I moved. The damage to the vehicle is almost always more than the value of the items stolen (and always more inconvenient to replace/repair)

I agree with Elusive. I take everything of value with me and leave it unlocked, but set the alarm so the ignition is disabled. I also open the console door so they know I have them in mind and it is not even worth the trouble to open the door. And if they do, they deal with the racket.

I had my Magellan GPS stolen on 1/11 at a hotel in Columbus, OH. Broke out my drivers window and passenger rear window. Got my wallet, all my credit cards my Palm organizer, CD's, and $300 cash. I'll never leave anything of value in my car again.

Sorry about your loss, but why would you leave a valuable portable electronic device in plain view and your wallet with cash in the car, and at a hotel no less?

Thats what I was thinking, I live in a rural area and wont even leave my wallet in my truck at the house let alone in a hotel parking lot. Going by the title of the thread it has happened before, I wouldnt take anymore chances from now on- take the stuff out of the vehicle.

I had side window smashed while staying at a Marriott. Only a few things of minor value were stolen. Luckily the window repair place that my insurance company used was only 10 miles away. I bitched to the Marriott Hotel Manager and he came up with 35000 extra points to appease me. I have allot of Marriott points. I am taking a long weekend to visit my Son in Atlanta next weekend. 40000 points for 3 nights. Not a bad trade off considering the window that was broken is on my Company Car.

Yep, bad move particularly at a motel....Another big clue is cost of the motel room. The cheaper the rooms the more drugs and prostitution there will be.....I am always arresting people for drug violations at Motel 6 but not at the Motel with "Suite" in their name... Its all relative
