Make sure is properly rigged, follow the BRP rigging procedure DO NOT SKIP CORNERS!. Change fuel filters and run clean non-ethanol gas and XD-100 oil.

Make sure you can see the cavitation plate in normal cruising speed then prop to WOT RPM (5800-5900 lightly loaded). I'd recommend you perform the 3 year/300 hr service.

Run 'er like you stole it!

These are great engines.

Outside of the non-e gas (not available in my neck of the woods) I'd do everything he mentions.

My E-tec is a 2008 and although I have it set for TCW-3, I still use nothing but xd100, ordered online to save some cash.

Default Evinrude 150 HP Outboard Engine

I just conducted a big service and repair job on a Evinrude E-tec 150 HP outboard engine. I made a video of some of the items I found and repaired. I hope it may help:

Capt John,
How many hours on that motor?
Did they use any fuel stabilizer like startron?
Did they service it regularly? That fuel water separator seems like it was there a long time
