World Cat 280 MSRP sheet - where can I find?
#1

Hi,
First time posting, but I have been reading the board for several months. I'm hoping someone can provide the MSRP pricing sheet for World Cat 280 hulls and all options for any years between 2018 and current. I'm looking at a private sale 2018 DC-X with 200 hours on the engines, and just about every option on the list (so I'm told by the seller). While I've got the list of options on this specific boat, I can't seem to get to the actual MSRP of the boat and the seller doesn't want to disclose the price paid, which I can appreciate. Thus, I can't tell if the price as offered is a good starting point for negotiation or not. I contacted the local dealer, and for obvious reasons he wants to sell me a new boat instead and claims the difference would be so small to not be worth it. That's all good if true, but without an MSRP sheet I'm a bit lost and have found guides such as NADA to be too generic on options to be useful in pricing. I've purchased more new vehicles over the years than I can remember, but this whole 'hide the price' game on higher end boats is frustrating. All for making a fair deal and, in the case of dealers, a fair and reasonable profit but I also want to be an informed consumer. Thanks for any help on this!

When I priced the 280 CC-x last year it was over $225K.
Make sure you do a search on this forum regarding recent World Cat production problems with regards to gel coat cracks.

Loaded 2018 280CC-X with trailer MSRP $254k. I suspect the 2019/2020 models were 3-5% higher. I also suspect the DC model is more expensive, but not actually short.

Buddy just purchased a new one 28 DC several month's ago that was a brand new 2018. I believe he got for $ 225K from the World Cat dealer for the Key's.

If you call your dealer they will get you a price sheet. You can get the rep involved if you have any trouble.

I'm Looking at a new World Cat 280 DC-X. Last December the dealer said a nicely equipped 2020 would sticker just under 250 K and would sell close to 200 K. Since he did not have one, he would not give me better numbers.

Thanks for all the informative replies. I reached out for a price list and called WC on Friday - no response yet.
Bob, on the difference between list and sale, I’m very surprised a dealer would have that much room to cut down the price by 20% right off the bat. Are those numbers solid?
Thanks

Not sure why the sales price of the boat would matter at all? Price it vs new and others on the market then make your best offer. It could sell for 20k more than he paid for it but that is what the market dictates. In the boating market right now I would make my best offer quickly.

Some here are waiting for the bubble to pop before buying a boat. The bubble is swollen right now.

I paid about 202K last November for a new 2020 WC 280DC-X with a 12" Garmin, Joystick/Autopilot and a few other niceties if that helps. There's a lot of options I did not order so I could keep the price down but I got everything that was important to me. The price I paid was about 37K less than MSRP. Here's a copy of the price list from July 2019 for the 2020 model. Hope it helps. This was not my final configuration.

Thanks for all the replies and insight, and very much appreciate the Normal Selling Price list, brobin - exactly what I was hoping to glean. Thank you!.
cjlukens , thanks also for your response. To answer, the price matters because I'm having a lift installed and it won't be in until the end of the year. The dealers are advising that an order must be made near-term to receive a new boat to spec next March timeframe. I concur with SharkSugar that sales are in a balloon and so my decision point is whether to make a deal now on a new order, expecting pricing won't be as advantageous as when the bubble pops, or wait for the pop (assuming sometime between now and March) and take one of three options: 1) buy new in-stock; 2) buy used; 3) wait to buy to my spec and accept a later delivery date. Although I didn't ask for final deal numbers, it's also helpful to understand what others have paid to get a handle on the new market within the past year and to calculate reasonable depreciation on used. Concur fully that the market will bear what it will on both new and used in real time, and the only antidote to that in either direction is time.
TY all!

No help on the 28 as I bought a 23dc in January of this year. I suggest you join the worldcat facebook group. Very helpful and plenty of 28 cc and dc owners to give you some input. Where are you located?

Now you know why I don't have one. If I ever do, this $200 option would be just fine!
