Default Will electric/hydro trim tabs work better then smart

Currently running Nauticas Smart tabs on my 22' CC by Cape Craft 2001. Recently went from a light 2 stroke to porky 4 stroke and looking to get most stern lift as possible. Ran a 3 blade Yamaha Saltwater 17P which was awful and swapped that out to a Solas 4 blade 17P 14.5 diameter which is night and day as far as stern lift. The prop has me right at 6K WOT for theYam 225hp so I am right where I need to be (I think) for motor but I still feel the need a little more stern lift. I will be moving my dual batteries from the stern to the center console to alleviate as much weight at the back. But shop that installed motor said Real tabs will get me the lift I want. So the question is will installing new hydro or electric tabs be night and day? Or should I first try relocating the batteries? thanks for suggestions.

The smart tabs really only help getting out of the hole, once on plane the water pressure pushes them up and out of the way so the lift goes away. So yes they do work better than the smart tabs, also controlling list is much better.

I have used smart tabs before and once you go to real ones you’ll never go back

Yes to tabs. I’d suggest moving your batts too. But that can be costly considering the cables involved etc. don’t forget venting needed as lead acid produces hydrogen gas when charging.

im putting electric on my boat vs hydraulic. Bennett and lenco are both reputable brands. I’m putting Bennett bolt electric on my boat. They have sizing info on their site.

The Bennett Bolts are great! Easy install and problem free. If your boat sits properly at rest, then you will not need to move the batteries
with these tabs.

Outstanding guys and thanks, I was figuring the cost to move batts and cables are not cheap so I might use the funds and get the Bennetts.
