Default Walmart Everstart marine battery lasted 10 years

I was doing maintenance on my skiff today. I checked the battery it showed weak but OK. The manufacture date was 6/10. Anyway, decided to replace with a new one. The old battery never let me down.

Same here.... I’ve had excellent service from them. (There are only a few batt mfr’s around actually, who make batts for many different “badges”. The WM Everstarts are made by Johnson Controls, an excellent mfr’r.

They're great about their warrenty, also. I've taken a couple back, and they told me to grab a new one, and sent me on my way.

Great life, got your $$ worth on that one.

Walmart batteries can be Johnson or Exide, model dependent.
Exide in the US was just sold under Chapter 11 agreement and will be produced by a new company which I believe is an investment company. I suspect quality will take a hit in lieu of profits.

Not bad for a neverstart... I quit using them years ago because I was going through them every 2 years on the mark. Perhaps I need to give them a try again. One thing is for sure, they always have them in stock on a Sunday at 0400 and no one else is open!

I have 3 Interstate batteries on my inboard/with no charger. I went 7 years with old set when one went bad, Changed the other 2 just because. In other words Wally World is not your only option!

BTW which ones do you get and how much do they cost??

WOW just WOW, where do you guys live? I've been buying Everstart batteries for my vehicles for as long as I can remember, but where I live if I get 4-4.5 years out of a 5 year battery I'm happy.

I bought a $50 Everstart Value battery about 6 years ago in a pinch until I could get a replacement Optima. A week later it found a home in my 50 year old JD. The Everstart still cranks fine hot or cold, the replacement Optima has been replaced.

I thought the warranty was only 1 year? Or did you buy an extended warranty? I had a group 27 everstart die on this year after 4 years.

My buddy's grandpa passed away and left him his old ford truck. It still has the factory Motorcraft battery in it! It's prob an 88 model. Hard to believe. My honda battery didn't make it 3 years.

Depends on the clerk you get. Some will swap it after 4 years full value, others who know/work in the auto dept. typically prorate.

one-year replacement warranty, and with free battery testing and installation at your local Walmart Tire and Express Lube Center, where you can also find free lead-acid battery recycling.
