Default No computer based pre-trip planning tools?

I recently switched from Garmin to Simrad chartplotters and I have 3 different map cards... Florida Marine Tracks, C-Map Reveal, and Navionics Platinum+. However, it seems none of these have a computer based pre-trip planning tool. Navionics has the mobile app based Plotter Synch but I don't have an iPad or tablet and planning a trip on an iPhone is just absurd.

I really have a hard time believing this is the case so am I missing something?

You can plug the Navionics card into a desktop or laptop and pre-plan a route using their web app. Alternatively, you can do it on the the chart plotter itself.

You're going to be disappointed in the communication between devices leaving your Garmin unit. They may not be best at everything, but homeport and activecaptain are far superior to the competition.

I was fishing with a friend the other day on his boat. Pulled up my activecaptain app on my phone, which has all my coordinates on it. Gave him the numbers of where I thought we should go and we were off. I might be mistaken, but I do not think you will find that type of synchronization between devices with the other brands.

I'll see if I can figure that out but so far it says only using a mobile device not my laptop

I wouldn't save routes to the navionics card.

Are you saying you can't use your way points to establish a route on your unit?

Its easy to do on Lowrance which operates the same logic and software as Simrad as far as I know. That should be in your manual, or one you can download.

And I would also be surprised if you need your Navonics card in the unit to do this as a unit w/0 a card does multiple routes and a 1000 way points.

Not what I'm saying, I can make routes on the Simrad unit fine. I prefer to do in the air conditioning of my living room prior to getting on the water but I can't use one my map cards in my home computer to do any planning. Google Earth KMZ to GPX conversion is the only method I've found.

All these maps have great features but It seems you can't use any of them prior to being on the water.

If you have Simrad and CMap - you can go here: https://letsembark.io/core/map and create an account and do your route planning on the computer using their webapp. Not as good as homeport, but ok. Then, you go to your Simrad plotter on the boat, you must have internet access and you enter the same username and password to sync the plotter to the above linked account and it will transfer routes, tracks and waypoints back and forth between the plotter and the web based account

If you have the Navionics app on your phone, and a Navionics account, go to navionics.com and sign in. There you can create routes (manual and automatic). The routes you create on your computer will sync to the app on your phone. You then connect the phone to your EVO3 via wifi and transfer the routes from the phone to the EVO3.

Have you been able to sync routes TO the plotter? I’ve been using letsembark and the Simrad boating app to create routes. When I sync to the evo3, waypoints and tracks transfer both transfer fine both directions, however routes only sync from the plotter to the web/app.

This is one of main reasons that I have stuck with Garmin.

La-Z-boy, air conditioning, cold beer, laptop, and Home Port make trip planning/researching/editing waypoints fun when it's hot as hell outside....

Not yet, trying to figure out Navoincs Plotter Synch but I've been pre-occupied with my brand new non-working Structure Scan 3D sonar. I'm really hating Simrad at this point.

Hilton’s has a trip planning feature that I like and use pretty much every time I go so I can give guys a reasonably accurate fuel burn estimate

Can you create a route in Homeport and export the route in GPX format for the Simrad to eat?
