Default Need some suggestions to repower or sellmy Intrepid 26 step

Ok so have had my intrepid for 7 years. It’s one of the Step hull versions back in 1997. Yamaha OX 66 250 is done.
What should I do? Sell hull as is? Find a set of F150/merc 150? 200? Etc. not sure I wanna spend $50k to re do at this time in my life. Working on budget. Maybe 20k or Open to hear what THT has to say.
it has a 190 gallon fuel tank. It also has the Euro transom so it has room for twins.

Cool boat. Do you plan to keep boating? Does the boat serve your purposes still? If the single 250 was adequate for you I'd try to buy a low-hour 300hp and keep running the boat.

I'd price out a Zuke 300 with new controls. Or a lightly used and under warranty 300-350 Mercury, or 300 Yamaha.

Or sell that boat to me as is cheaply...

Twin 4 strokes would be pricey, and heavy. And the single has served the boat well.

I am possibly thinking a pair of used F150s and new controls so I would be all in under 20k. May sell the boat as is. Trying to get educated on what to do. Thanks. Keep the comments coming. What is the boat worth now?

If you’re going to sell I wouldn’t put a dollar into it.
guys who want to fish hardcore are the ones who want twins. They aren’t going to want that top on there so unless they get a deal they are out.
What overall shape is the boat in? Wiring? Tanks? Etc.

Boat looks like it’s in good shape. Stepped 26 is hard to come by too. I looked for one for a long time years back. This is a really great Intrepid hull. This a $30k sale the hull deal easy. I would not hesitate to put $20-$30k in it. $20k for the hull only is a give away you could sale 10 next week.

What does “Yamaha OX 66 250 is done” mean? What works...what doesn’t work?

I LOVE my 300 Suzuki. 4 Years and not a hiccup. 370 miles from Jupiter to West End and beyond fully loaded in my 23 SeaCraft. 3mpg key on to key off. You'll get 3.5mpg light. Buy a Zuke 300 and don't look back.

It all boils down to what is a not running, sun burnt, 23 year old Intrepid worth? The only thing I wouldn’t caution you on is the Repower wormhole. Once you get into it, you will be upgrading the electrical system, redoing all fuel system plumbing, then new electronics because you’re already in there, and it just keeps going. Before you know it, you’ll be into it for twice what you originally budgeted for a used engine Repower. The other thing to think about is what does that 23 year old fuel tank look like? Snow balls quickly. You could get into it and find that the boat needs much more than you budgeted as well, just things to think about.

If you were really not using the boat before the motor puked, it would be hard to justify that kind of investment. If you go through and do all the upgrades, it is unlikely you will recoup the investment on resale.

If you like the boat repower with a 300 Suzuki and be done with it. Under $25k even if you need new batteries and some elec work.
