Do you prefer black outboards or white outboards?

Both black and white look great at the boat show but I'm not sure which one will stay looking good for longer. I'm thinking that if you keep your engine waxed and covered, that both white and black cowlings will last very well. White shows greasy fingerprints and smudges and the lower units seem to yellow and get pretty faded and cruddy looking after a short time. Black can also fade and show scum lines and get cruddy looking. White motors look great in showrooms and boat shows.
Also, what brands of motors have the best and worst factory paint jobs? Some seem to fade and look old after just a few years.

Black outboards sure do get hot but they look great.

I thought I liked white until I was told it was. $1500 more. Black is just fine.....
All joking aside, I have had 2 black outboards (Zuke and Merc) and and if you keep them waxed and a cover on them when not in use, they look great. If you let them bake in the sun 365 days a year they still clean up well but emblems will be toast.
My my white Evinrude looked yellowish dingey below the waterline and you could never get it completely clean....

I have had both colors including Yamaha grey, and the best one IMO was the whites. Whites stay cooler here in the FL sun and there's nothing worse than climbing unto the boat and leaning on a hot black or grey cowling.

I’ve had 5 sets of black motors and this last year I tried white. I must say the white always look clean, even covered in salt. The black motors sure do shine up nice, but they show any scratches or imperfections. And when they get covered In salt they really look dirty. You’d have to look really hard to notice anything on the white motors. They always look clean.
I will be sticking with white motors from now on!

White is superior, without question.
