Default AAdding Auto Transmission Fluid to hydraulic oil to give it color??

Currently working on my HydroSlave unit which takes AW32 Hydraulic fluid. I will be replacing 5 gallons of the AW32 with fresh. It has been suggested that i add a pint of ATF to the reservoir which will effectively dye the fluid red so I can see if there are any leaks. Is this safe for the Hydro Slave? I am not crazy about mixing oils.

Better off to add some dye to the fluid. Can get it fluorescent too.

ATF is a Hydraulic Oil with heavy Detergent. You will be fine. Seal Safe. I use it in Snow Plows, Power Trim, Power Steering, Log Splitters, anything that requires Hydraulic Oil, as long as it's not Gear/Hydraulic Oil (ie. Tractor Housing), then adding 10-15% ATF to Gear/Hyd. would be the case.

I did the ATF to hydraulic Oil experiment in a dual station boat. The only noticeable difference was during cold weather ops. A bit more steering effort. Cold being in the '40's. Might be important for some, not for others. Also, my system used just 1/4" tubes, not 3/8" hose, and that matters too

I absolutely would not do so. Buy aviation hydraulic oil. It already has dye in it and is safe for boat hydraulics. Its cheaper as well.
Try Aircraft Spruce.
