About to pull the trigger, Tracker or G3?
#1

I’ve been researching 16’ aluminum deep V hull boats and I’ve decided on two. Tracker Pro Guide 16 WT or the G3 Angler V16F. I’m leaning towards the G3 as the promotion seems good but it’s priced with the Yamaha F50LB so I’m considering bumping up to the F70LA or the F75LB and I’m waiting on prices for engine upgrade from dealer. The G3 is $18495 with the 50hp. Freight and prep $1k. If I don’t do this deal I might have to wait until winter do to stock and 2021 change over. I honestly don’t know if I care for the G3 warranty compared to Tracker as I’ve read both. But I have not read anyone’s personal experience with hull failures except on the older 2004 G3’s with corrosion which I believe were due to electrolysis or interaction with chemicals in the marine plywood. Some received new boats and others didn’t due to being 2nd owners.
Anyone have personal experience with these two models?
Any difference in ride quality between these two?
edit: Fishing with my brother in Northern MI on inland lakes and cruising waterways with my wife. I couldn’t handle a modV so I’m looking for a smoother ride in a deep V 16’.
Tracker seems to provide all their specs but G3 doesn’t provide much on specs, like dead rise at bow and transom or draft.
Thanks

I can only give you my personal impressions. I looked at numerous (used) Tracker boats before buying my (used) G3. IMO the build quality of the G3 outclasses the Tracker. Mines a 2010 and rides smooth and quiet. My Dad recently went through the same process and was leaning heavily towards the Tracker...until he looked at the G3. He bought a G3 Angler V17 with a Yamaha F150 witch he loves so far. I've fished it with him and it also rides smooth and quiet. Additionally, I've found the build quality and fit/finish of my G3 to be considerably better than my old Crestliner and the newer models I looked at before buying. YMMV.

G3 “13. Galvanic or stray current corrosion, or corrosion caused by salt or brackish water.”
Tracker “ Galvanic or stray current corrosion, or corrosion caused by salt water”.
Doesn't say warranty void if used in saltwater, just says it won’t cover damage caused by salt (G3) or salt water (Tracker).
I don’t plan on using a boat in saltwater.
But you could if you washed it properly afterwards, but that’s another debate or forum post/question.

I also looked at this route for an aluminum boat verses glass. I’ve always been a glass boat guy but liked the thought of no gel coat to maintain.
The G 3 is a way better boat imo than the tracker . Unless they have changed . Look at welded vs rivots and hull thickness.
But still gonna be a loud ride and not super smooth.
I looked at the Express boats , Foam filled hull and quieter , but bad reviews for crevice corrosion with that.
Could not get my head on an aluminum boat , bought glass for a good ride.
But G 3 would be my go to.

I owned a 2005 G3 V170T. It was a tiller steer boat with a Yamaha 50 HP. Traded it on a 2011 Tracker Pro Guide 16 WT. Hands down the G3 was a better boat. I bought my Tracker from an independent dealer, not BassPro. I would avoid buying from BassPro. I think you would get a much better experience at an independent dealer if you choose Tracker. I now have a 2013 Lund Alaskan 1600 tiller with a Honda 50 HP. Going on 7 years with it and am very satisfied. They are more expensive!

G3 is a better quality boat. I have had first hand experience with several late model trackers cracking welds. I have also seen their warranty at work. If I had to choose between them, I'd go G3 all day.

Talked to the dealer today. They order boats without motors, Prep covers install, set up, fire extinguisher, fuel etc. Gave them a deposit and they ordered my motor. It will take 2-3 weeks to get the F70LA. Yamaha behind because of Covid, so they go through G3 to get the motor quicker. Evidently the factory has priority?
