Default Carolina Skiff. DLX or Older V series?

Is either one drier than the other? Does one handle better than the other? Ill only have it in inshore situations and on a very rare occasion Id want to take it to steinhatchie but not very far out.

I've been on a 24 DLX and a 21 DLV. The V wasn't enough to make much difference. The extra 3ft on the 24 footer lead to a better ride between the 2. Neither boast was too dry in anything over 1ft sea but both were fine for what they were designed for.

I have a 16 DLX and it beats the crap out of you. I'm looking for a 178 DLX (Im okay with getting the crap beat out of me). I love the utility of the boat. The 198 will be huge compared to a regular 17'. I see a lot more 198s listed vs 17s as well.

I have a 178 DLV. It does just fine. Everything is a trade off? It isnt crazy wet if you run it right, but it will pound a bit in over 2 ft. The trade off of course is that it has a lot of capacity and is very stable for a 17 foot boat.

My advise is get the longest boat you can afford. My 23 rides rough I feel because of how little hull is actually in the water while running. My friend has a older 24' DLX and it rides WAY better than my 23' DLV. I believe because the hull doesn't have the high bow rise that the DLV has.
