Default Ordered a Boston Whaler 170 Montauk Last Week

My dealer had the boat on order already, but they told by "putting my name on it (with the options I wanted)," Brunswick will speed things up and should expect delivery around the first week of August.

Does that sound about right?

Typically, this is true. In some instances, identifying an order as "retail/sold" will help expedite the order.

Crazy how few (if any) are in-stock at the dealers.
Mine locally is out of stock on all models. What a great country!
Congrats on your purchase - you'll love it!

115hp, bimini and no trailer.

Need to order a custom trailer so console fits in my garage without any modifications.

Congrats on the new vessel! That's pretty awesome....you'll have it for a few months of summer.

Where are you located?

Congrats, Sold boats do take some priority in line. At least for the dealer allocation, sold boats jump ahead of any stock orders or slots that dealer has. We absolutely love our 170 Montauk. That is a custom Ameratrail trailer and I am very happy with it as well.

Just curious, how are the new Montauks different from the old ones? New hull design? New graphics?

Whaler did a great job on the freshen-up of this boat. Very classy looking. The integrated fuel tank is nice too.

It is a completely new hull - a little deeper vee, somewhat higher hull sides and significantly heavier (same with the current 13 & 15 compared to the old models). It is closer in design to the old 18' Outrage than the original Montauk.

Yeah. My dealer said they normally have about 40 whalers in stock at any given time. At the moment they have 2.

Spoke to Brunswick yesterday and the gentleman on the phone told me they have never been busier.

Spoke to dealer today. No updates. Said factory is 1/2 staffed. (I know they completely shut down every year for 4th of July).

Was hoping for an early August delivery, but starting to look like end of August, possibly September.

Anyone order a Whaler last month and get word from the factory on an ETA ?

I ordered one on 7/1, a Montauk 210. Build is scheduled to start 08/28, no ETA available yet.

I called yesterday and they told me it's been ordered but it hasn't been assigned to me yet (I guess they are referring to a VIN?). They said, the manufacturer is telling the dealer to expect delivery sometime around the end of August with no specificity.

To me that sounds like the boat is coming in mid to late September.

I wouldn't be surprised if they reassigned me as a new order instead of a dealer allocation like they originally told me.

No complaints really, I will wait patiently since I got a great deal. Just trying to peel away the salesmanship to manage my own expectations better.

Can I ask what a great deal looks like? Just curious since I too recently ordered a BW. Feel free to PM me. if you prefer. Thanks.
