Sorry, I can't even begin to believe that.

There is no way you can get 25,000 hours out of that engine, and if you got more than 14 knots out of the combo you would be having a good day; more likely 10-12 if the wind isn't against you. I know sailboats that can do better.

2500 hours on that engine would surprise me. 25,000? Even if that engine were 20 years old, it would mean you spent over 160 days on the water running the engine for at least 8 hours.

Sorry, you just lost any shred of credibility you had with me.

gerg, Well come get a ride and you'll see a single 6500+ hour Volvo tamd41p push a 35' boat well past those numbers . 12 to 14 kts is the speed I like running at but is knots less than cruse and maybe if I took some of the junk out of her and put fresh bottom paint could get it running 6 or 7 kts better than that. .... probably would ruin the fuel economy though

There's a lot of Maine built boats. Which one do you have? And what are you having built? I'm really curious about going from a 165hp to 200hp and not changing props. Fresh bottom paint and removing gear will never get you a 7 knots increase.

Huntinfish. I never bothered to find out what volvo changed on the block to have the rating change from 165hp to 200. It was obvious they changed the head. Maybe injector size? Maybe boost ft/lbs out of the turbo? It very well may have been as simple as one was under or over rated. I put a new wheel on last November and tried a new size that I once tried with the 165. I jumped up 2 inches of pitch and got the same result. Can't swing it. As for the increase in knots. I meant 6 or 7 knots faster than the 12 to 14 knots I cruise around at. Without taking the accumulated stuff out and freshining up the bottom I can still probably get 4 or 5 knots higher to WOT. It is something I really don't do unless there is a emergency situation so I am estimating that. Today i was running it at 3200 which is farely rare and saw 16 kts on the plotter.

I am currently looking at a mint, 41 Luhrs. I haven't read the thread. Is this a good boat? What is it like in tought, head sea conditions? Can I expect to keep it the rest of my life? I think the one I am buying is 41 1/2 feet, is that better than a 41 footer? Is bigger better? Big Al told me I could get some answers on thehulltruth.
