Here's what I can't figure out. There is someone out there that can't find a better boat than a Luhrs with a half million dollar budget :0

Here's the deal, go to yachtworld, put in 40 to 44 feet, convertible, 500K, and your location. I bet 80% of what pops up on the list is better than a Luhrs.

Here's an example in Michigan where I am right now:

boatdive.

I'm not looking for a used boat. Also something along the lines of a 41 open. I guess its the configuration that I like since I have a 31 open and love it. I just was thinking bigger!

I'm paraphrasing an old saying in the publishing industry but....

The legend may not be the truth, but when the truth becomes the legend, print the legend.
When will the one post wonders realize that if they want these posts to disappear, all they have to do is ignore them. Adding 6 pages in a week is not exactly making the issue retire gracefully.

Who wants it to disappear? Been following it off and on since it's inception and enjoy the reading for the most part. When posters start thumping their chests and clanging their 'nads together at each other, that's pure entertainment. Am I a "one post wonder&quot Perhaps. I also listen a whole lot more than I speak.

What does the difference between a 31' boat to a 41' boat have to do with landing a 400lb fish. I could see an issue if it was from a 21' boat to a 31'.

"however" - 9/19/2008 3:04 PM There was problems with the boat. There is trouble with other Luhrs boats, all boat company has trouble at one time or anther, the problem is Luhrs didn't fix the boat till it was taking to court and still didn't fix the problem. If Luhrs would of stepped up and fixed this we wouldn't be here. So if you want to buy a 41 with known problems go for it, a demo even better get a sea trail and get everything in writing. If not shame on you. I for one would blow every 41 up that would fix it!!! Or at least recall everyone and start fresh
I have only ridden on a 41 once - not overly impressed. That said from looking at the "fix" Luhrs has done on the first of the 41s, following this and other threads about the problems the boat has IMO the hull has design issues that are not fixable. Better off spending more $$ on a different hull.

Really I just want todo my part to keep the thread alive!

You may have a sick cat but you have a sick mind. Luhrs is one of the finest boats you can buy today. They are quality beyond compare and are an excellent value.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion. My opinion differs from yours. Luhrs has built some good boats. One of my favorite boats of the era is the late 60s/early 70s 32'/320. Great lines, good utilization of space (for the time) and a goodbalanceof ride/speed/economy. Makes a great little fish/overnight boat in my neck of the woods. They have not been "quality beyond compare" for a LONG time but a price point boat. Nowadays there are certainly down the list from the likes of Hatts, Berts, Oceans, Navigators, Cabos and many others as far as quality is concerned. Of course they cost less too. That is the price point part. Kind of like comparing a Mainship to a Nordhaven. Different boats for different folks. Those facts have nothing to do with my sick mind.
