Anyone who claims that these boats ride "like a dream" is lying-- Reel Deal and Boatman both know about the problems with this model. The sad thing is that everyone keeps focusing on the "ride" issue There are so many more dangerous issues. A death will occur one day on this boat --I hate to say this --but it will happen. The A/C pulls its air out of the engine room. If you have this model ---BEWARE --- Do a smoke test. The coast guard has been told of these problems and I hope something is done before a tragedy occurs

Sounds like some serious Luhrs damage controll going on here. What your hearing from on this thread is a mixture of dealers, owners, and ex employees, all of which have been screwed over by Luhrs. They cant all be lying and out for revenge. If even half of it is true and we save some poor sole a few hundred thousand dollars spent on a bad boat then maybe it was worth it. With all the problems on the Luhrs models and now the Mainship models because its the same management and crew now, why take a chance with all the good deals on other Brands out there. So Iluvluhrs go back to your office and wait for D-Day. Is just around the corner for you to.

Got this post from thehulltruth.com -- More great Luhrs "design" (see below)

You won't belive this. I have ben running the "Reel Fantasy" part time for 5 years now. It's a 36' 2004 Luhrs Convertible. We have had a "MAJOR" soot problem since day one. Everybody blamed it on the exhaust design and we assumed that the problem was inherent with the design of the boat.

Last year it got so bad I had black hands on the bridge. We had the aftercoolers cleaned and it at least got us back to the original soot level which was still bad. The boat even sooted up in the salon. So bad the carpet needed to be replaced. Everything in the salon was sooted up, I mean everything! The owner blamed it on the door being open too much but I made sure it stayed closed most of the time.

This year we decided to try to attack the problem. You won't belive what we found!!!

Luhr's had not installed "ANY" air intake into the engine room. I mean none! The 3126 Cats were starving for air. They were actually pulling air from the salon and not from outside. Therefore the soot problem in the salon! The only air intake to the engine room was by pure accident. We cut three 4 inch diameter holes into the engine room and ran flex duct back under the cover boards. Then we sealed off the salon from the engine room. Guess what? NO MORE SOOT! Problem solved!

I hope this will help anybody that has been suffering with the same problem. How Luhr's got the Cat's certified in this rig is beyond me? Feel free to PM me if you need details.

"how did Luhrs get CAT to certify this "??? The same way they got Cummings to certify the 41 with the incorrect transmission to keep the speed down on the Flawed 41 hull

HAs the ORIGIONAL POSTER ever heard of a LEMON LAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No such thing for a boat in florida. But the guy in NJ is in luck, if I understand correctly his purchase involved diverse jurisdictions and makes his case fall under the federal Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act. He could DESTROY Luhrs in Federal court, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act is essentially a lemon law for goods sold over state lines.

Brand new to the site, and gotta admit this post is a tad confusing, albeit immensely entertaining! A sixer of Coke Colas and microwave popcorn is in order...now if some of you could refer to the "1995 Mckee Craft" post...

Your story sounds like so many ---Good Luck --- Take it from me DO NOT WASTE MORE TIME ---- HIRE A LAWYER . Post some of your problems -- Have you had a survey or naval architect look at your boat ?? Many of your issues are probably the same as others

Get a quality survey, it will be eye opening. After you hire a lawyer, tell him not to waste any time with a demand letter....just sue them... (from a lawyer speaking from experience)

You mean how your rudders were falling out of your boat and I was instructed not to do anything and that the CSR manager had been writing his own warranty claims and paying himself. I was looking out for the company and its employees and this is how they pay you back.
If you own an older 41 point the remote for the BOSE system and watch the a/c go to dehumidify.
I am so over Luhrs. You give them 100% and they you nothing.
I tried to help all of the Luhrs owners because there are legitimate issues that need to be repaired. Thats enough for today.

The rest of the Midway crew already received their 2 week notice. Wow its hard to believe they even gave them that. Only 2 people left any way. Its definatly the beginning of the end. Good ridance. I wish all the luck in the world to all the employees that put their trust in the amature management at Luhrs Corp. Lets see now how long Silverton and Hunter last.

I was out in the boat this weekend and cruised by Luhrs. Well it looked like Silverton/Hunter more than Luhrs. There are more Silvertons and Hunters at the plant then there are Luhrs. The end is not far. Ive also heard they are having serious problems paying bills to local vendors. I guess all of those great ideas are proving to be not so great.

So where do you suppose the Luhrs boys will end up in all of this. I hope those two silver-spooned buffoons get everything that they deserve.
