Looks like some of the people at the plant are not happy with the "employee owned company" Please tell all Boatman --- I bet your stories support Luhrs 41 and I -- It is sad that these people are getting screwed over by the Luhrs brothers. The CSR people that worked on my boat at Luhrs know the extensive problems with that model -- They did not have the authority to buy the boats back. The were not even given the authority to fix the boats correctly. My problems with Luhrs is with ownership -- The handling of the problems comes from the top. I hope all the workers find new jobs --

I should have referred to you as EX-Luhrs employee -- I just cut and paste the survey report from Flemming on Feb 27th --Where in the hell does he "sign-off" on the repairs. If I ever see your sorry little ass --I will knock your teeth out.
So are you saying he didn't ride on and inspect the boat before it left the factory. By no means am I saying Luhrs did things right especially when the issues could have been addressed pre-production. I don't think your going public the way you did really helped your cause either in the end. I think it would have been more beneficial to wait until after the fact, but I guess you had your reasons. I sure hope that Ocean holds up for you for a lot of peoples sake. Hey, you made your bed and now you have to lie in it.

I was one of those CSR people and spent a lot of time on the road dealing with the 41s. Matter of fact Im the one that brought your boat back to St. Augustine. The problem has always been at the top. Jack Ingram is a good man and dealt a shi**y hand the second he came through the door.

So Reel-Deals-1st

You have firsthand knowledge of the boat itself. Aside from your opinion on the politics of the situation, what is your opinion of the issues with the boat? Sure seems from reading the surveyor reports that the structural and handling issues are major. If I paid 700k for my dream boat and had the issues that these guys had I might not deal with it rationally either, especially if I got out with a headache and losing half my money like it looks like happened to Mr Sunshine.

So net-net, is the boat a flaming POS or what?

"Wait until after the fact" are you kidding me !!!! -- Read this thread from the start. My delivery report stated the problems. I had the boat back to Northside for 3 months the week after I closed. I then set up a trip to the factory with Brad for repairs in October 06. They had the boat for another 4 months with no results. After it was returned Luhrs took it for another 3 months at Seminole in West Palm (set up by Brad and Hankins). The day we go on our test drive it catches on fire --- Mike Hankins leaves me 2 voice messages stating " Mr Finney is working on the figures on your buy-out --we are glad nobody got hurt" (He also sent me E-mails stating the same). 3 days later I get a letter stating the boat is at Seminole with no issues -- if you sign that this is true we will reimburse you $ 45,000.00 you spent -- If not go pay the bill and "Good Luck --you are out of warranty "

Then I started posting what was happening on this site --- I think I gave Luhrs PLENTY of time to make me happy prior to the postings

Sunshine, sounds like you should have had a 5 gallon can of gas with you when it caught fire, that would of fixed every single problem , except your insurance going up on the ocean!!! What a F@#%ing mess, then again, it is a boat! I couldnt have put up with all of that crap you did! I love walking down the Luhrs dock at Camachee (we stay there a couple times a month). Just for you, I will now forgo walking that dock!

Was he dealt a shi**Y had because of me ??? --If you ask me I got dealt a $hi* hand. I paid $700,000.00 for a boat I planned on keeping for several years. You are the one calling me out last night -- Do you think my boat had no issues --I made all this up ?? Did it not catch on fire ?? Why would I make up stories of problems with the boat ???

When Luhrs shuts down --- The employees involved with this mess will be "spilling the beans" and the truth about this garbage company and everything they knew about this boat PRIOR to selling it to all of these people will come out. Jeff -- you know the truth about the Luhrs 41 model -- You just don't like the people (Rick and I) that let everyone else know about Luhrs dirty little secret

I'm free of all of the politics and tried my best to shoot straight with all of the owners I dealt with. I'm sure that any of them would tell you this. There absolutely was a running list to the boat. Anyone with half a brain could tell you this and anyone who might have ever denied it, is full of sh*t and should be slapped. It wasn't only Sunshine's boat, but 38 others with similar issues. There were other issues that were addressed and a laundry list of cosmetic and superficial issues. By no means am I here to blow smoke up anyone's azz about the boats. The issues were obvious the second the first one hit the water. Luhrs screwed up royally. I also think Sunshine and Luhrs 41 screwed themselves. There will be no real winner at the end of all this. Luhrs built a good boat outside of the 41,44,33-34, and the 31 pre IPS drives. Its a great boat for the money. The problem at Luhrs is that they think the only way to make money is to ship boats. Well the problem is, is that R&D gets rushed, QC gets rushed, and they expect to absorb the issues in the warranty department. Well I think we all know where that got them. They would rather ship an inferior boat, rather than water testing and QCing the boat to make sure the warranty department doesn't get plastered. Anyway's, I ran almost all of the fist generation 41s and they all had their own issues. The issues were addressed with half azz fixes before shipping and it came back to bite them. When the boats came back to the factory for the recall fix, from what I could see the issues were addressed correctly and fixed the way they should have been 2-3 years ago. Oh well, its ashamed at times like this, this is what can all to often be expected by American industry. A lot of good people lost there jobs due to this and that saddens me, but apparently Luhrs thinks this is okay. They have burned a lot of bridges over the years here in St. Augustine and if they do recover they are going to have a hard time replacing the true craftsman that they sh*t on. More than likely they will only be able to get the residual waiters and bust boys to continue building their boats.

I think that unless this thread gets 71 pages, nobody will pay attention to it.

Dirty little secret? There is no secret. My question to myself the whole time dealing with these boat was "why in the hell would someone ever stroke a check for a boat that runs like this"? The issues was obvious the second the boat comes off plane. This isnt an issue that developed over time. Its an issues that is apparent immediatly. Why would so many people get so reved up over this years later when the issue was there before they ever stepped foot on the boat. A sea trial would have solved all of this. The boats should have never been shipped, much less purchased. Running in flat water its there, so dont say "they wouldnt take the boat in the ocean". Please tell me and feel free to speculate on why 39 people would pay $700,000 for a boat with such an obvious issue?

I don't see how I am the "douche bag" after reading you last post Jeff ?? I purchased a boat for a lot of money -- I , or any of the other owners, got what they paid for -- I never dealt with you (only Brad and Hankins) Why don't you tell everybody about that POS Rob School field --The paid off naval architect that tells everyone the boats are perfect. He even wrote some BS "survey" on the Luhrs web site

I dont think JYS has any ventured interest in arguing with anyone on here. They are all stand up guys and have a business to run. I would have to assume you are refering to Jagsare1, which is not an emploee of JYS. Rogers not a bad guy either. He just came into a situation and had a hornets nest dropped at his feet. Im not saying you guys are making everything up. There has just been a lot of untruth told on here. Im not trying to take away from your situation, but keep it black and white. I have also run Ricks boat and I can say it had the same issues, but it has been corrected and is a very nice boat as it sits right now. Luhrs certainly didnt handle things right, but facts are facts.

By the way Rick, I do not work for Polar nor have I ever. Is this some new drama that youve been told?
