This entire story stinks like crap. I think everyone looses nobody wins, the buyer has a legitimate gripe, boat not being up to par we are after all are talking about a half a million dollar boat maybe more, anyone put up that kind of money they don't want to hear it. then we have issues with the buyer, trade and monies that he still owes on the boat, which discredit his character. then you have dealers that if you did not purchase the boat from them you wont get good service and in some cased no service. so you guy's tell me who wins.

I think everyone is overlooking the guy's real problem.

Forget Luhrs - he has an ex-wife that owns half of both of his boats.

Come on guys I what is at the heart of this problem. Luhrs 41's are not built to take the punishment handed out by the seas off New Jersey. I guess they do fine in calm FLA waters; but break-up when they get a real ocean test. By the way my hardtop is 23 years old and des NOT leak. Plus my boat runs hands off downsea. Lets see what that 41 is worth in 10 years let alone 20 years. They are not a lot of boat for the money if you get out within 5 years; because of their depreciation. Simple math guys; buy it cheap and loose your a$$ on resale. Not a lot of boat for the money when it comes time to trade. Now I would expect a Luhrs salesman to make that point. They get paid to tell the truth just not the whole truth.

1. A/C system leaks will be investigated by some components in boat where joints for A/C line are located. Reseal lines and recharge system to confirm repair to system. Re-assemble components in boat. Dometic Corporation will also be involved.

2. Dismantle shower door assembly and re-install appropriately for assembly to work. Replace any parts as necessary. Premium Marine will also be involved.

3. Address cosmetic gel repairs as noted for Stbd. upper bridge panel, transom door areas, and any other warranty related items noted. Luhrs will also re-attach the hull side spray rails which have been impacted and appear loose. Luhrs will also repair area noted by customer to have been created by Clark's Landing as requested. Entire boat will be inspected for gel issues that may be covered under goodwill policy.

4. Review, and add material as appropriate, for upper bridge canvas enclosure area on port aft corner.

5. Replace generator sound shield.

6. Repair, and replace as appropriate, bulkhead materials located in the engine compartment forward firewall.

7. Repair, and replace as appropriate, the wire chase materials in ceiling of forward engine firewall area.

8. Repair couch to "lock" into open position properly. Replace smoke Plexiglas bulkhead material near couch.

9. Inspect all areas of boat to list any potential items that Luhrs will repair under either the extended warranty process and/or as goodwill to customer. No items will be repaired at Luhrs expense if created by installation of items by customer or a contractor.

10. Engine manufacturer rep will run/inspect the boat for proper operation and maintenance. This will include sea trial and underwater gear inspection.

11. Dismantle aft salon door assembly and review if appropriate repair/or replacement of components are needed. Confirm proper support of underside of door area. Reassemble door assembly.

Due to his ex-wifes refusal so sign off on the trade in, it's possible that 41 Luhrs doesn't have a clear title, or even legal ownership of the new vessel. As it appears the original purchase agreement has not been satisfied the factory, once it has possesion of the vessel, could simply refuse to release it until all claims have been satisfied.
Also, if Luhrs 41's ex-wife lives in Florida, she might possibly be able to legally claim the vessel if it's sent back to the factory.
In either situation is correct, if he sends the boat back to the factory for repairs he could lose it.
Sounds like a very deep soap opera plot to me.

Ok, I think I have it now..... Mr. 41 Luhrs buys a Demo, which is still a "used boat" with over 250 hours on it, spends at least 2 days checking it out and commits to buy the boat. But, it appears that he did not do due diligence by having the boat surveyed. If he had done so, the majority of the items he has on his punch list would have showed up, where by he could have held up closing or had an amount held in escrow until repairs were made to his satisfaction. Since he chose not to do this, he is now choosing to B**ch on a public forum even though it has been reported that Luhrs has seemingly stepped forward to take care of his problems.

In my opinion he has no one to blame but himself for not having this "used" boat surveyed before he closed.

As far as the selling dealer is concerned, they did not pay attention to even the most basic business principles by accepting title to a boat without the necessary transferring signatures. Without these signatures, that title is nearly a worthless piece of paper. It also means that there is a significant amount of money outstanding as a result. This has been going on way too long and the smell of fish is beginning to permeate this thread.

Luhrs has made a good faith offer. It is winter in NJ and that boat won't get used there for four more months. Who better to do the work than the manufacturer.

In short, Luhr's has lived up to their obligation. All boats have issues, especially entry level ones like a Luhrs. The current problems exist b/t the so called owner of the boat and the dealer, not Luhrs.

I have fished the 29, 32, 36, 38 and 41. There were things I liked and disliked about all of them but I didn't think they were POS. The fact that you live in St. Augustine doesn't necessarily make you an expert on Luhrs. So, no, not everyone thinks they are a POS.

Look guys its very simple all we need to do is ask one question to 41 LUHRS.

Why wont you let the factory take care of all the issues that you have with your boat?.

Wow, after reading this you have to wonder if the boat problems are really secondary to the legal issues of title. I'm not sure it's really fair to the manufacturer to bash the product which under more normal circumstances could have been made right by the selling dealer. I've actually admired the 41 Luhrs express from a distance, but obviously that's no expert opinion. Definitely catch some strange tales on this site.

Groupergagger, you need to read the thread. I already stated what boat I own...and it is not a Luhrs.

Per Luhrs 41:
4. Review, and add material as appropriate, for upper bridge canvas enclosure area on port aft corner.

This is what happens when we speculate. It looks like the hardtop is not leaking. The leak is coming through the canvas which is common. It is hard to make canvas completely waterproof around zippers, connections, etc.

I was asking knothome what type of boat he had, since he is bashing luhrs so bad. I like yourself, do not own a luhrs, but I have fished on them countless times. Luhrs are great boats and like all other boat NO BOAT IS PERFECT. I didn't join this forum to just post to this thread.
