I can't believe I just read this thread now. Hollywood couldn't have scripted it any better.

I don' think it's in their best interest to slam Luhrs. Ever try to recover from a company in bankruptcy, or worse, closed altogether?

Smart thing to do would be to talk Luhrs up until you get your boat fixed or your money back, particularly with a boat company. They're notorious for closing their doors, move the molds, start up again under a different name, and presto - fresh start with none of the past encumberances.

Good to see Luhrs is back on the site Trotte Up signed up on 7/7/07 . Why don't you get a review from that paid off POS Rob Schoolfield -- The naval architect Luhrs takes with them all over the country. I have a boat in Jupiter that would be a fine boat for a review -- Come on down and take a look !!

Quote from the above review.....

......the good news is that this boat performs reasonably well. We had a light chop on top of a two foot swell that resulted in a fair test of rough water performance, which I judged to be acceptable. ........

Me thinks Luhrs paid Pascoe to write that dribble as well as the rest of the review.

A light chop on top of a two-foot swell is Mr. Pascoe’s definition of rough water? Where, in his bathtub? I wonder how the boat holds up when it runs into Mr. Bubbles?

Many weeks have passed and still Luhrs Has done nothing to repair my boat. Roger Y, VP at luhrs has forgotten about my repairs. My phone call to him last week he said that my servicing dealer Clarks landing in NJ does not want to do the factory service to my boat .I asked him So who is going to do my service his reply was i will get back to you on that. I feel like i am just getting the run around till i go away But that is not going to happen. I am paying for a boat i can not use and luhrs is not doing anything about it. My Punch list is growing day by day just this weekend while living on my floating luhrs condo the holding tank blow up like a foot ball ( the holding tank was 1/4 full ). Luhrs has tried to fix this problem many times and still they have not figured it out. any one that asks me about my boat at the dock I tell them what problems I have had with luhrs. so i am getting the word out. Like My first post Luhrs Buyer Beware This post will never die unless Luhrs Steps up to the plate and does the right thing. Rick M My Sanity

Mr Sunshine - 7/6/2007 10:25 AM No Gag Order -- I have been out of town. Luhrs has a week or so left to respond to the lawsuit. I might have some info soon. I think "Luhrs 41" has been in some contact with Luhrs -- It looks like they want to take his boat again to the factory for repairs.
That's right they want to bring my boat fromNJ to FLA to do the repairs to my boat that only takes 26 hrs to do the repair but they have already did the repair to my boat and it does not work so what do you think they have up there sleeve some sort of new and improved modification that does not work. The cost involved in taking my boat to FLA removing all electronics hard top and console to be trucked to Fla and be reassembled in Fla for repairs and sea trials then disassembled return back to NJ and reassembled again.Luhrs has so much money to waste it on a 26 hr repair, 20 -25 k to move my boat and return it. There is something wrong here!! the reason theywill not take it by water is that they will not reimburse me for the hours they will put on my motors time that i will never get back like the last two years dealing with this POS called a Luhrs

I guess beauty really is only skin-deep; it is a pretty boat that at one time I looked at semi-seriously. I wouldn't touch one now. Interestingly, my local dealer wanted to gove me a sweet deal on HIS demo boat; scary, isn't it?

I hate lawyers and I hate lawsuits. Having said that, I hope the original owner files the suit and either makes Luhrs pay up and fix the problems or go out of business. It is inexcusable to have these kinds of problems with boats in the 21st century. These builders are taking shortcuts and they know it and it shouldn't be tolerated.

They do know how to build sea-worthy boats but the problem is that it COSTS more to do so. It also requires something called skill and dedication which is lacking in our society today.

^ that or go by the old adage "you get what you pay for" - you want a cheap boat - buy a Luhrs. Don't bitch when it doesn't show or last like a Viking. I've known never to buy a Luhrs for 2 decades - spend some money and go a step up. This is no different than a bayliner boat owner complaing in the 90's - WEL DUH? what did you expect.

gator, that's not really fair. Sure, Luhr's has a reputation as low cost, but that doesn't excuse the way they are dealing with these problems.

Low cost may mean you don't get teak, or fancy lighting systems, or high end hardware, but it doesn't mean you put your life at risk trying to use it or that you have neither possession of the boat nor an ability to use it for years at a time.

There would be no more excuse if I bought a ford that fell apart and the company refused to fix it.

LUHRS41 and Mr. Sunshine need to go ahead and let the lawyers fight this out in court. This saga has pretty much run it's course here and all it is doing is using up bandwidth. I am not unsympathetic....it is evident that Luhrs is not going to do the right thing here, so they just need to let the judicial system run it's course.
Luhrs is a price point boat....period. Always has been, and always will be. You can argue about there not being any such thing as a $600K price point boat, but what has happened here is proof positive.
In any event, this has thrown the spotlight on how Luhrs responds to a poorly designed product and how their management addresses those problems.

Wolak, there is a huge distinction you are missing. Toyota, Honda, etc, all started out as price point businesses. They have managed to grow on a reputation of quality and durability to the point where they also have luxury models.

Just because they are a price point brand doesn't mean they can do what has been alleged. You can't just out and out sell a substandard product and fail to make it right (which is what appears to be the case).

Now you can argue that they went too far below the line and don't have the resources to resurface, but they shouldn't continue in business if that's the case, and they certainly shouldn't be able to just dust off the concerns of harmed parties.

Just a thought.
