I started following this thread from day on and it started out as personal attacks on him and his claim.
Whatever happen to "JAG" who knew all about "41 Luhrs" and his claims?
Reminds me of the Duke Lacrosse debacle....where are Jackson, Sharpton, the Duke "88" and the rest of the rabble rousers?

I looked back over the first few pages of this thread and many of the early bashers have yet to recant their statements. Some have even disappeared!

Mr Sunshine - 6/20/2007 11:29 PM

Everyone keeps telling me that I should have had a survey done before buying the boat. Let me tell you I have spoken with several other owners and some did have surveys done by “good” people and they did not find these problems. The running issue happened on all the boats during the sea trials but the sales people told all of us that it was due to us not being use to driving a boat with tunnels. They were all as dumb as I was to believe them.

Many of you think that by making all of these problems public I am hurting Luhrs and at the same time the value of my boat. I tried to have Luhrs fix my boat numerous times before I went public. But they never followed thru with their promises and now I see that there really is not any fix for the boat. Luhrs hired Donald Blount and Associates to try and come up with a fix for the boat, even though per Luhrs there is not a problem. Donald Blount and Associates is looked to be the best in the business when it come to fiberglass prop pocket boats. But even with their help there is no fixing this boat. Below is a page from the hull fix given to me by Luhrs. Take note of the date of 08-23-06. This proves that Luhrs knew about this problem for quite some time as they already hired someone and came up with a “fix” for it in by August of 2006

Back 20 years ago people paid 100's of thousands of dollars for a home's none of which were inspected. Home inspections are fairly new in the past 10 to 15 years and most of them are ordered by the realtor who has a big interest in having a clear inspection. I think most people would not think of having a new boat inspected but after hearing your stories have taught allot of us stuff we need to do before signing the paper work .I wish you guys the best of luck in your situation as buying a new boat is supposed to be a happy time not what your going through. Just remember that this will work its self out and do not let it consume your life its just not worth it but I'm sure its added a few gray hairs.

That's very strange 'cause I'm on the site right now (1121 Thursday morning) and see you as being online. Even after a refresh of the page, you're still there.

Darn, I'm having a problem with this one. Does the fact that he has or has not been banned from a forum have anything to do with his boat issues? He said he was banned, provided details from the message banning him, yet we still say "That's very strange 'cause I'm on the site right now (1121 Thursday morning) and see you as being online. Even after a refresh of the page, you're still there. " & "This sure looks like a post to me ". He didn't say he had never posted there. Reading thru this topic, I think he stated HE HAS POSTED. '41, I think everyone knows your issues, some want to bash, many want to know the fine details and outcome. Please keep us posted. I sure wish I could get into that damn sand bar since they removed the "chicks in boats" thread!

I can confirm that he is banned from the Luhrs Owners forum. At least that's what it says under his login on the post he started (and has been closed).

Rick

Dont feel bad -- I was banned on day 1 and my threads were removed. I had a owner that was posting back to my thread that was unaware of the problems. I hope he can find his way to THT. That forum is a joke -- The fact that Luhrs dealers read this site daily, yet will not post , show the type of people they are. I would stay away from any boat dealer that would continue to sell these boats.

This thread is awesome. Like the 'Deadliest Catch' of THT!

Seriously, I think it is very damning that Luhrs nor their dealers will touch this thread with a 10 foot pole. It seems to me that 41Luhrs and Mr. Sunshine are in the right on this one. I can't imagine what is going on on the Luhrs side of this, and why they let this continue to go on. Imagine being a delaer for that product right now! I would have to think that at least some prospects are finding out and heading for the hills.

I also think it is pretty funny that people blame 41 and Sunshine. Sure they could have done more research, but it would really suck if we had to spend our whole lives watching our backs lest we get ripped off by scumbags trying to take advantage of us because we are not experts in the product we are procuring. Besides, most people who can swing the 700k for a luxury item spend more of their time earning (the doihg to pay) than learning (about the product).

It is nice to see the internet being used for this purpose (to flush the weak-sister companies out of the industry). My condolences to 41 and Sunshine for taking the beating so others don't have to....

Maybe I could be called a early "basher", but the only reason I haven't posted anything is because I find reading this a waste of my time and haven't bothered to turn over this rock in a month or so.

And banned from Lurhs site. Now isn't that a blinding flash of the obvious.

I don't think I ever said they didn't have a case. I just wish they would man up, sue the company and stop acting like a bunch of 8 year old girls constantly snitching on someone who is misbehaving.

Maybe I'll check back in a month or two and after 40-50 more Sunshine & Lurhs 41 posts and find out the "latest".

AMFs.

Cracker, I never said there were lemon laws for boats (there SHOULD be), but the existence of those laws indicates that "we" meaning the U.S. believe that manufacturers should be held to a level. A survey sure as h e ll doesn't mean you won't have problems. Surveyors and home inspectors miss stuff all the time. Luhrs should back up their product or start selling late night TV crap -- oh, I guess they already are!!

I agree, just file a lawsuit, first year law student can win this one for you!

Side note for next purchase. I have a family member who bought a Silverton, the first year they changed design from mid engine straight shaft to V drive tunnels. I asked Silverton why in the world would you do that, they state people like everything on one level.

I tested the boat, not verly crazy about the rumble or performance, but all in all not bad and given they only travel inside and short distance they love it. And there you have it, they designed the boat to operate short distance and be comfortable at the dock, same as the sister company Luhrs. So when look for you next boat decide, do I want an ocean running battle wagon or a nice dock side lounger and from that you will get the brand you need to focus on.

Truly I wish you good luck in getting this straightened out.

Hell, I could probably win it for you. Getting it on the docket will probably take a bit and then collecting will be another issue

Mr Sunshine has already filed a Federal lawsuit against Luhrs and they have been served the papers. I have my own agenda with Luhrs at this time.I will be right behind him in the near future.I am using thesame firm to representme.

A quick search on yachtworld.com produced a couple interesting results. The lowest priced 41 Luhrs is a 2004 model @ $450k and is appropriately named "Major Issues" ... ROTFLMAO

And there's a 2005 model being offered by none other than JYS at a discount price of $490k stating "The owners has a new 41 arrived and this is Our Trade". Why would you trade in a 2 year old boat for the same one ... oh, that's right, they changed hull to correct the nonexistant heeling problem.

MIfirst

Another good line from some of the Luhrs dealers around the country on the 1 year old 41 is "owner has change of plans" -- That is correct -- the owner plans were for a boat that did not ride on its side. " Major Issues" was a good name for Mr. Lotane. He has been is telephone conference calls with 14 other 41 owners regarding a lawsuit. Since JYS checks this site daily -- COME ON GUYS -- tell us about this boat that is discounted $ 210,000.00 for this "owner" that has a new boat on order. Have some guts and get to the keyboard -- YOU POSTED AT THE START OF THIS THREAD --- We want to hear from you guys !!!

Check out the other JYS listing

In addition to the "trade JYS has for sale -- They have another great deal $ 599,500. -- " Previous Dealer Tournament Boat for 2006 ..... Save thousands over brand new .... Owner has change of plans, new airplane is on the way""

HOPE THIS BOAT GOT THAT "TUNNEL MODIFICATION" --

Rick was your boat not the "Tournament Boat" before you purchased it ??? JYS must have beat the sh*t out of this one as well --- I like the crap about the airplane

Uh oh! Looks like Luhrs got to Wiley; the post saying that 41 Luhrs could go back to the owners site is gone. I guess Wiley (or the new owners) felt the pressure although I think 41 Luhrs had the right to post an email or letter if he was either the receiving or sending party.

I BETCHA THIS WHOLE THREAD DISAPPEARS WHEN PRESSURE IS PUT ON THE NEW OWNERS!
