Honestly..............after reading all the negative things in these "LUHRS" threads.......................Would anyone on this forum take a chance and buy a LUHRS product?????????? NOT ME.............Anyone who goes and buys a LUHRS after reading these things needs to have their heads examined!!!!!!!!!!!! There are too many other manufacturers out there to choose from than to take a chance with these jokesters.........................."LET THE BUYER BEWARE"...........A fool and his money will soon part............................................

Well said, I'm with you Brian.

Exactly why LUHRS is upset that this thread has shown the quality of their work. The internet is developing online savy consumers researching their big ticket purchases, impulse purchases are for WALMART.

Come on now, it's not a crappy thread.
The "I was rammed by a jerk in bayliner while anchored" thread was just as entertaining.

I had tons of problems with a Luhrs 32 Open I bought new 5 yrs ago at ftl boat show, wiring issues, fisher cracks all over, warped transom door leaked into cockpit, broken cabinets, all around shoddy workmanship. I was lucky to get out of that boat. They cut tons of corners in this price boat and it shows. If you buy one, expect issues!

I think you left out that the Dealer didn't take care of this boat, ran the hell out of it and put it away wet after each use!

Big boats take alot of time to keep them up.To me,if you don't have it in your backyard, you better get yourself a full time captain or deck hand to do the work for you.

Still,41 got screwed.Gland I didn't buy that Luhrs when I looked at one.Then again,after I did a walk thru,self inspection,I knew it was built like SH_T!

I would not buy a boat that looked like that in the engine room....I can pretty much guess that it was not delivered like this. He did say he put 90 hours on it...

Can't believe these gues who seem to think it is normal to have to "wash an engine room with fresh water"??

An engine room should be maintained, for sure, but that does not include washing with fresh water or cleaning salt water from it .

Please stop posting these types of idiotic comments.

Have your ever run a large (35' +) sportfisherman? These boats have fairly large engines which require two very important things to operate - Fuel + Air. Enormous amounts of air. The air comes from outside the engine room. These air vents are usually on the side of the hull or in the cockpit and are subject to spray and salt saturated air. It is common for salt residue to coat everything in an engine room because of this. Granted, there are some great new baffle systems with filter panels that are being used on higher end boats, but this is not the industry standard yet.

Cleaning and inspecting an engine room after a trip is a vital part of maintaining any boat. A dollar in preventive maintenance is worth hundreds in repairs.

I have the following problems
1) rudders that have no support and move up and down to allow water to leak into lazzarette area
2) freon leaks. Gulfstream has been to my boat over 25 time in the past 12 months for freon leaks. The A/C system has over 40 quick connects for freon.
3) leaks into engine room with lots of corrosion
4) leaks on bridge roof
5) waste leaking from toilet into hull.

These are the main problems. This same model has 5 other owners with structural issues involving the tabbing, main bulkhead, and hull to deck joints. Luhrs has told the others they abused the boats. The architect Luhrs hired (Schoolfield) told me the others "wave jumped" and my boat is "built like a tank".

I have no structural problem at this time (400 hours) but the other boats problems concern me.

I am hoping these things can all be corrected at Seminole Boat Yard, and Luhrs will pay the bill. My boat was declared "unfit for intended use --ICW only" by Kerwin and Allied Surveyors. The boat was at St Augustine from Oct 8 - Jan 8. Now it is sitting at Seminole. I have paid over $ 3,000.00 for reports from various people on this boat -- all at my cost.
