How do you know if Dave actually filed for warranty work with Luhrs on the boat?

No , it sounds like Dave never wants to follow through with work that is /was supposed to be perform through warranty. It appears to me he uses trhat... if you ignore it and keep making up stories it will eventually go away tactic...

As I mentioned Luhrs has responded to my problems -- as they should. If you are spending this much money, over $ 600,000, you should receive a sound boat. To jump all over "41 Luhrs" is wrong ! If you are part of the JYS team -- you know some of these items have been on many of the early hulls
If I had over $600K to spend on a boat (which I don't and probably never will) damn If I would buy a new Luhrs. I would get a really nice, well maintained, late model, used Viking that somebody else blew a over a million bucks on several years earlier. Luhrs is a price boat built for people for whom money is the only object. Viking builds boats for people for whom money is no object...but after a few years the price has depreciated down into new Luhrs territory because gazillionaires don't buy someone else's used boat they order a brand new one custom built to their specs.

Since my son is the buyer, how do you know if its Luhrs or McShane? The guy sure doesn't seem to want to stand behind the product after the sale. Everytime I hear anything, it sounds like a run around to me. I would have been pissed a long time ago. I know what I heard which worked out not to be true. I believe my son was pretty much told to go screw himself by Dave McShane yacths on a few issues. McShane yacths is going to screw up the lauching schedual now. With all this nice weather, the work should have been done but all of a sudden... Luhrs has to approve all warranty work. I wonder what is taking Luhrs all those winter months to decide or is it Dave????? Even simple oil leaks are like pulling teeth! This stuff isn't rocket science.

With this thread and the Contender thread you could almost swap names of the boats and the threads make the same sense. Not saying that contender boat is in the same tier as Luhrs but same kind of warranty issues. Are they owned but the same people.

Maybe these companies can send out acknowledgement letters saying they recieved warranty claims from dealer. Then you would know who is dropping the ball. All Dave has to do is say Luhrs is holding everything up and the boat owner would never know if Dave even made the claim or not.

It seems its a very easy way to stall and never get anything fixed right.

How long should this stuff take???

Subject: Warranty issues

Dear Dave,
I am having the following problems with my boat:

Port engine is leaking oil from the head gasket for the second time

The wash down pump will only work if I go into the bilge and tap on it with a wrench, I feel that when you want to use the wash-down the button should work.

All refrigerators and freezers are not getting cold. I noticed there is a compressor at the stern of the boat under the cockpit sink. Does this need Freon, or a compressor check, I just want to fix it and fix it right.

Also there are a lot of cracks throughout the hull, I would like to meet with somebody to show them all the cracks throughout the boat, to come up with a solution to this problem.

The engine monitors seem to have a mind of their own. One day they work, the next they don’t. I would like a yanmar specialist to troubleshoot this wiring problem. I know others have looked at it in the past, but there is still a problem.

Sincerely,
XXXXXX

The refrigeration issue was solved. The rest hasn't. Are these people that busy??????

Also The wipers stopped working last year and Dave did put in for some new ones but they still have not been put on the boat if Dave ever got them.

Just wondering... Are we not waiting long enough?

TIA

I will bet there is alot left out, and usually it is on the manufacturers end. This guy has a problem boat and I bet he would rather be fishing than having to constantly be fixing crap that shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck. Hopefully the manufacturer will work with you to get your boat fixed properly.

Boatmanalso,
If my memory serves me, you were in the Luhr's corner when this thread was considered current events. Now you are saying your son, who has bought a Luhr's, is having problems getting warranty repairs done?
Is this correct, or am I reading your last couple of posts here incorrectly?

You are reading the posts correctly, that is if the time stamp in the email is enough time to be concidsered Dave had more than enough time to complete the punch list?

To me, there was time and entering into another boating season without having satifactory results , I need some opinions. Coming up on a year June 16, 2009 is too long in my opinion.

There was verbal before that.

Yes, email can be blocked. Sounds like nothing has changed with Luhr's since this debacle began. Sorry to hear your son is having difficulties getting his boat fixed.

If your son has $600G's for a boat I think he oughta spend afew hundred for a lawyer to get on their azz. Enough is enough unless he enjoys getting the run-a-round.

Well . I think he prefers to give every chance possable for people to do what they are supposed to be doing...

I think opinions are needed to make sure he isn't jumping the gun in thinking he is getting the run around. I'm sure he feels that he is but what are some good avenues for solutions? Lawyers being the last.
