I'd be furious if I bought a very expensive demo boat with 250 hours and later discovered all of these problems. Furious at myself for being too cheap and foolish to hire a qualified surveyor.

i'd be furious to let an ex that looks like that get away

She works for a plastics injection company

Gee-
After watching this entire thread , it occurs to me that this is ........Yet another fine example of an initial poster making ALOT of general claims, with very few details. ALOT unanswered questions, with inaccurate observations.

Yep.........Welcome to the Forum 41!!

This thread is far more entertaining than watching soaps . . . or Oprah . . . or Dr. Phil

There is a thread like this about once per month . . . the script is as old and as predictable as a porn film

1. Outlandish claims

2. Lots of "I am sorry about your bad luck . . . "

3. Some guys start calling the original poster's bluff and demand proof

4. Spectators start picking sides

5. Manufacturer steps in and says "not true"

6. More and more "he says , they say"

7. Spectators start changing sides

8. Questions get more pointed and answers miss the point

9. Thread gets longer and people start saying the thread is a waste of band width . . . where is the Truth . . . where are the techie questions etc etc etc

10. The price of popcorn and beer increases as the thread becomes more popular

However, on the positive side, this thread has been more civil than some of its predecessors . . . THANKS

"Now I wonder how much the lawyers from Luhrs will sue you for seeing how their reputation is being tarnished and they are losing money as a result of your internet threads. You may very well end up owing them a heck of a lot more than $600k when this is all said an done and let's just hope they don't retain the same lawyers as your ex wife or you may owe them even more"

Reading what he said pretty carefully although I don't agree with it I doubt Luhrs has any grounds for a suit. Truth is an absolute defense in a libel case, and from what we know now about the boat being "repaired" the posters claims about the boat being defective in x number of ways appears to be true. If anyone had a claim for libel it could potential be Luhrs41 himself if what the dealer spilled here about him owing money turns out to be false. That would be libelous and would likely get them sued.

Not taking sides, just calling it like I see it. If someone owed a boat load of money to a dealer for almost a year I would think 99.99% of the dealers out there would already have sued. The fact that this dealer has apparently not sued but instead brought it out here on the web as a "defense"?

And here you go fibbing again. First you stated they were doing nothing. Then you stated that they promised they would have it back to you in April. Maybe my calendar is wrong but it isn't April yet. If you bring it to Florida...or have Luhrs bring it to Florida at their expense, weather will not be a factor and they can get right on it. There is your answer. Either quit griping because they have committed to having it fixed and back to you in April(your own words) or have them deliver it to Florida so they can work on it now.

Anything else they are doing for you that you haven't told the peanut gallery? You and I both know you have a pretty good deal going.

Here we go again.

LunaSea - 12/20/2006 2:19 PM I, too, own a 41 Luhrs Convertible (2006). I did a LOT of research before buying. I challenge anyone to find a better value in the market for a boat of similar size and amenities! This is a BIG 41' boat (actually 44') with a wide beam (almost 16'). The interior space and layout is exceptional, the flybridge has to be the largest and best layout in it's class... The boat is fast and reasonably efficient. This is my second Luhrs boat (had a 32 Open before). Are they perfect? No... But neither is ANY OTHER brand. Mine has had a couple of MINOR issues, all taken care of by the dealer... Your "punch list" seems to include quite a few minor to insignifcant items such as loose screws and sticking drawers. Your clogged holding tank vent and swollen tank is almost certainly the result of overfilling the holding tank (so as to force sewage out the vent). Considering that the tank holds over 40 gallons, and the boat has a vacuflush system using a quart or less of water per flush, one has to wonder about the time between pumpouts... All hartops will eventually leak where they are thru-bolted. Keeping those penetrations sealed is a maintenance item, not a defect. Same goes for hatches and relocating antennas/center riggers and not properly sealing or repairing the prior penetrations. A missing remote control for the stereo and/or a poorly performing TV is hardly a cause to bash the boat builder. These are 'off the shelf" items supplied with the boat, not built by Luhrs. As for the steering concern, ALL boats have handling "issues" at some point in their operating spectrum. The prudent mariner should be aware of the excentricities of his vessel and adjust his operation accordingly depending on conditions. Broaching in a heavy quartering sea is common with MANY models of boats. Light bulbs being burned out do NOT represent a warranty or quality issue, replace them... By the way, why did you change the size of the supplied anchor? It fit fine... I know others who have these boats, too... All of them like the boat and think it represents a great value. I know one who is about to buy his SECOND Luhrs 41 Convertible... So, Mr. "LUHRS 41"... I wonder if the problem is really the boat, or is it the owner????
How isyournew Bertram Ernie???

Did you sell your 41 yet??

Rick
