Saw a 38 foot Luhrs Conv. the other day and it really did look like a sweet boat.
Luhrs website is still active and they are supposedly at the Annapolis show right now.

PS - Looks can be deceiving

I just got back from down my sons boat prepping her for the second blow to come through. He told me some of the warranty on the boat from Luhrs expired last week. The yanmars and hull still have years left on it. The boat still is very impressive to me.

Luhrs actually did a new website a couple of weeks ago
and its sister company Mainship is preparing for two new models to go out, while Silverton the other company part of this group just launched the 36 Convertible with IPS

heard some reviews of the latest new Mainships and no one says so much bad things for them, a friend of myn also has an old 38 which he seems happy about too...

Its more of a father thing wolakrab. My son bought a 41 open and I would like to give him a heads up on any real developements or comments of concern mentioned. I realize there has been a transition period for Luhrs in their move so I think it is prudent to attempt to be aware if there has been warranty delays or things of such a nature that the consumer has shared here. Even though a Luhrs is not priced with the hgh end names, They still are alot of money for a average person. I really don't think it is that far fetched that anyone would want to keep tabs on that kind of a investment.

The Luhrs as these people know it is gone. They are now under new ownership and all new people. Basically someone bought the name and molds and are now building the boats up north. The go down the same line as Mainships and Silverton which are know for there quality and great style.

(note the sarcastic tone)

fishman, incorrect. Same ownership. Luhrs, Hunter, Mainship and Silverton are and have been the same owners. All molds and production was moved to Millville, NJ from St. Augustine, FL. The people are the same people but I guess you could say that they are new to the Luhrs line. Joke about quality and style but Silverton and Mainship have a following. Said I would not post here but correcting a misconception seems OK.

Fishman,

As the son of an owner of a Silverton I can tell you that you are wrong about quality, and style is more of a personal preference.

boatmanalso,
I am glad your son has a dad like you.....supportive to a fault. Let's see what he thinks about his 41 in a few years.
I have no doubt he will discover that you get what you pay for. I hope for continued success in his business....that way he can afford a good product for his hard-earned money.
Edited to add:
Anyone who can afford to shell out the clams for a Luhrs 41 can afford better.

Big problem in these days. Companies sell a poor products, then let the buyers do there testing. Wouldn't expect it from a big name like luhrs.

My dad could very well make the same claim...and he had 6 children.
I have to respect you sticking up for your boy. Regardless of your taste in boats, you are a good man in my book.

Thank you, He does have a more expensive taste for boats but that will have to be somewhere in the future. When he is ready to figure out which boats are the top of the line I'm sure I'll be askin everyone what they think.

Wow. I want to be a part of this epic thread. I read the first 20 pages but gave up after that. I assume that "Owen's" name is "Rick" and "Rick" can't spell "own" and can't fix the problems with his Luhrs? What are the next 2,000 posts about!! lol

That was several hours of reading.
What a waste of time unless Rick gets some satisfaction.
I do see what Jaks was saying about the timing for free cleaning and maintenance that 41Luhrs may have been playing.
But I do believe that there is a major issue for the 39 hulls.
I also realize I will never buy a 41. But I would not be scared to buy another model.

I am sorry but the Silvertons and Carvers are not aesthetically pleasing to me in any way. My opinion.
