Default Contender leads Big Rock with 1 day left.

Could be a cool underdog story for a 35 contender to beat out all the multimillion dollar sporties. After a week of fishing the Pelagic Hunter 2 is 1 pound ahead of second with a 495 pounder.

It's a huge story whether they win or not considering what the conditions and competition has been like this year. Congratulations to the 4 man crew.

Been a pretty neat year with a record turn out of 205 boats and purse of 3.5 mil plus having Jordan in town is cool. Havenít seen a monster fish yet like weíre capable of seeing but thereís been lots of fish caught. Then you throw in an outboard stringing up a first place fish this afternoon. 150 plus boats still are eligible tomorrow so itís going to be interesting.

Contenders are one of my favorite center console boats. I still donít think itís a story though. Any boat with the range to reach good water from that particular port, and big enough for the conditions of that day couldíve caught that marlin.

Hmm maybe it's Contender that is the greatest center console ever made.

That's why it's called fishing. The big sportfish are still faster, way more comfortable in any real water conditions. They have range, accommodations, supplies to fish most any place in comfort. Sailfishing out front in Florida you don't need one, out island Bahamas and further they are great and worth every penny. After a day in rough water the cc has worn you out, eating bag lunches, getting sun burned, soaking wet from salt spray.
Not taking away anything from their catch. Great fish and they earned it.

Its pretty hardcore to fish for marlin 4 days out of 6 on anything under 40 feet from Morehead most weeks. This one was no different. Lots of wind after the first couple days. Today itís raining hard. These guys are fishing anywhere from 50 to 100 miles offshore chasing these blues. A smallish open boat is definitely at a disadvantage. Iím not an expert but the big rock has been going since like 1957 and Iím not sure an outboard boat has ever won. With all the huge outboard boats now days itís going to happen sooner or later Iím sure. But I think thereís still less than 40 outboard boats entered out of 205 and a few of them are in the mid 40í range.

The 35 footer is still ahead by .2 pounds. 1-3 are separated by 1 pound with one more fish coming in. Plus 5 pounds off of an extra $550,000 prize. Literally millions of dollars being being decided by ounces.

The Contender just won it, so apparently it's sooner rather than later. An outboard boat placed second a couple years ago.

Well they held them off, congrats to the Pelagic Hunter 2 for winning by .2 pounds. Sea striker and predator for second and third and Lo Que Sea for the release prize. (Worth around $750,000 since no 500 pounders were caught).
