Default 200 Optimax throttle issues

Good afternoon,

This is my first post after lurking for some time. I recently purchased a 2000 Pro Line 220 with an Optimax 200 that had 560h and stored dry. My second time taking it out, I noticed it would sporadically have fluctuations in the RPMs. I took it offshore the past 2 days and it became a regular occurrence with the check engine light illuminating. It hasnít beeped or made any sort of aural warning.

I thought it may be a TPS sensor or maybe a MAP sensor, but I am not a mechanic. Before I take it to a mechanic and start spending hundreds of dollars on diagnostics, does anyone have any experience with this issue?

I also tried finding a diagnostic tool online, but apparently they arenít as bountiful or inexpensive as car diagnostic tools. Iíll be open to any leads on one of these as well.

Thanks in advance.

Are the rpms jumping or dropping? What rpm range is it happening? Rpms at idle?

You can get a techmate pro for $500, itís a good investment if you plan to work on the motors yourself. You could also get a vesselview mobile

The RPMs are jumping and dropping in all ranges (idle and run). The jumps arenít extremely significant until Iím running, then it gets bigger. Sometimes, it seems to randomly ďfind fifth gearĒ so to speak. Iíll look into those tools, thanks.

Would check fuel/air psi at rails and also check for spark on all cylinders. Can also pull coil connectors and listen for change, you would be looking for cylinder with no change as problem

You can do a misfire test with it but wonít give fuel/air psi at rails. What are rpms at idle? If they are surging may have fuel in air rail, tracker valve/fuel diaphragm. Psi should be 90/80 fuel/air. If they are dropping itís probably injector/coil/spark pug/plug wire at one of the cylinders. Could be tps as well which you could test with scanner.
