Default Wellcraft Construction

Does anybody know if the current era Wellcrafts (Beneteau) are wood free?

The only mention of construction in their literature is a single sentence about Vinyl Ester in their blister warranty. Otherwise I can find nothing. No wood free claim. Nothing about hand laid glass.

It’s also odd there are no factory tour videos for this brand and their web site is almost useless.

The boats are heavy for their size so there’s either a lot of glass or there’s wood somewhere in the design. Their 22 foot 222 weighs 3400# dry which is 1000# more than the typical competitor.

I contacted wellcraft in 2016 when buying my 290 Coastal. Was told there is no wood in stringers or transom and no wood below waterline. I can't verify the transom, but had a thru hull ducer installed and hull bottom is solid glass. There is plywood and coring in the deck construction.

I believe the entire line has been redesigned and retooled in the last 3 years.

Dealer says no wood since 2017. Just trying to confirm since there’s nothing in writing.

Hard to find a boat that doesn't have balsa cored deck and hull sides, especially in that budge of boat.

Can't speak for the new ones but my 06 352 has wood cap and a ceramic transom, I really haven't checked on the floor but the stringers and bulk heads are not wood.

I worked for a Wellcraft dealer for a few years (until last year), toured the factory and spoke with the engineers and head of production. After the complete redesign of the entire line of center consoles initially the only wood was small pieces glued to the inner hull as either backing or mounting wiring looms and plumbing lines. I had been told that during the 2019 year they moved to composite materials for even these little pieces and therefor no wood in construction.
