Default The price of a new G2?

Will their be a large surplus of G2's available and will they sell very cheap?

Good question....I suspect the dealers are not going to give them away nor will BRP

I'm not sure how this business works (ditto with new cars)...Does the dealer actually buy the motors as inventory, or does a bank, or do the dealer lease the inventory....that's all greek to me.

First question is probably difficult to answer unless you work for Evinrude. I would guess the second answer is that yes they will sell cheaply, but now cheaply depends on the answer to question 1. There might only be enough to satisfy the orders of the few who will still want them.

Better question, will someone buy them knowing they are out of business?

Perhaps, but only if the price is right.

My son in law is looking for a new motor and hell.....if they are half price...might be worth it. Especially if they will continue to do service and make parts. But that also begs to answer....will the dealers still provide service or will it be indies? Also.....are their enough out there to warrant an aftermarket parts manufacturer?

The assumption to think these motors especially new Evinrides will go on sale as if the prices will be slashed in half is a very far stretch. Discounted sure, but I doubt you will walk away feeling like you just robbed a bank. Used outboards however, you may be able to haggle over the price. I still think even if you bought an outboard at dealer cost it would still be questionable on whether the saving is worth the depreciation.

Hard to say what the future hold price wise. Retail obviously won't happen. I dropped my boat off yesterday to have some work done. Dealer had a 150 G2 25" and a 115 20" G1 sitting on the show room floor. He also had a G1 150, 25" and a couple others sitting in crates. As we were finishing up my work order another dealer called him about the 150 G2 he had on the floor. He's a platinum dealer who doesn't sell boats, and sold over 30 new Etecs this year. Not a big shop, but the were busy..

I think they should be close to $30K less than what I just paid after tax. Seriously, I wouldn't pay more than $10K knowing it is at best a lease that you will need to dump as it gets harder to find a shop with the equipment, personnel, and willingness to touch them.

I'm pretty deflated about it. I wanted a G2 5 years ago. I just did it, and I feel they pulled the rug from under me. The honeymoon is over, and I didn't even get to put the tip in.

Starting June 1st they will be 20% off and 3 year warranty. Don't expect them to fly off the shelves at that price.

I know where there's a pair of 200 Verados that are new and still in the box. People dont want them because they're discounted, yet Mercury is still around.

I could see where they get to 50% off. Time will tell though.

I assume BRP has been "managing" inventory in the lead up to this. They know well before the announcement that they were discontinuing the line. There will certainly be a discount but I doubt it will be fire sale prices, some people still like them. I think parts should be readily available for a long time as BRP wants to protect the reputation for all their ongoing brands. Dealer's may become more scarce but probably any SeaDoo dealer will be an Evinrude certified service dealer.

I think the dealers with stock will optimistically keep prices high for a while, sit on them for a year or so, realize they need to move on, and start dropping prices until they sell out.

When I talked about repowering, my Evinrude mechanic who had survised my E-tech for nine years said he wouldn't sell me a new G2 due to the problems he was dealing with.

I think it’s one thing if you already own one and just want to keep it running. In that case, probably no problem. I wouldn’t be buying one new, however. Resale values will definitely fall.
