Pathfinder 23 dv owners.
 
I currently own a 2006 pathfinder 23 dv with twin 2005 yamaha 150 four strokes. I bought the boat back in October 2019. The props that came with the boat are 15 1/4 by 19 pitch props. I'm only getting about 5300 rpms wide open trimmed up. I'm looking to get more rpms. I'm looking for any advise on changing the props on the boat. Thanks everyone for reading my post.

There were a number of 23DV's that were powered with F150s, but most are singles. I'm sure that someone who has been thru this will be able to answer your question, I know that member Cooper had the same setup years ago and went thru various props and engine heights before jumping to a zuke 300. I think that Windham14 did as well. They might remember what they tried.

If not, most 23DV's with twins came with the 190 gallon fuel tank, so be sure and mention that to Ken if you go that route as the weight will make a difference.

What MPH are you getting at 5300rpm?

Check the height of your anti-ventilation plate at cruise with the engines trimmed up. I bet yours are buried.

I once had a 23DV with the option huge fuel tank, It actually went all the way forward into the console. I forget if it was 190 or 140 Gallon. Mine had twin yamaha 150's Unfortunately I do not recall the props that I had on it. But I 2 was disappointed on performance and did some research. I learned a lot but upgraded before I could put my learnings into action. However the person I sold it to did make changes and was much happier after that.

The number one thing is that the typical install had the props way to deep. Raise the motors and you will get better ECO, speed, and more RPM's to go with that. So unless you have already put effort into getting the right motor height, I would do that first before you even touch the props.

Does you boat porpoise a bit at higher speeds? That could be a sign that you need to raise the motors.

Are you sure the props are 15.25" diameter? I though the largest that a F150 could swing was 14.25"

My F150 runs a 15 1/2" x 17" Michigan Apollo SS prop. I like it's performance much better than the Yamaha Reliance props (17", 19") I tried.

Thanks for the replies. My boat does porpoise at higher speeds. I will check on the motor height. I have seen 47 mph. But that was slick calm and going with the current.

Motors are mounted on the second hole from the top.

Those look like 25" F150s. Single engine 23DVs use a 25" outboard, so I imagine that even if you mounted those all the way up that they would still be too low. I'm thinking 20" shafts would be more appropriate for twins on this hull, but I've never seen one set up like that. You could also try a jackplate, but that's moving all that weight even farther back.

You should easily get over 50mph once you have her set up right.

I had the 25" on mine also, that was the standard setup I think. I am pretty sure that you need to move to the top hole. As long as you do not start blowing out, that would be your best simple and cheap option to get more out of your current setup.

x1000 on getting your motors to the correct height before throwing money down the drain on props just to spend more money on different props after you then raise your motors.

Been there, done that, and got the t-shirt.

Looks like the motors are as high as they can go. Im not sure if the bottom part can slide up anymore.

I would call that a mess up during the install of the engines. Bonehead move.

Can you post a pic with the boat on the trailer ? Tilt the engines down and take a stern shot so we can see the height of the cavitation plates relative to the bottom of the hull.
Hard to be correct without some photos, or running shots of the lower units at high cruise speed. You may have the wrong props too.

There are a bunch of twin owner's who have tuned the props for their needs. Hope one pops up for ya.

It looks like the holes drilled for the mounting bolts were not properly spaced.
