Default Which DC would choose?

Looking to pick up a used DC. I prefer to buy a higher end brand for quality and resale.

Criteria

27 to 33 ft (probably lean to larger than smaller for the extra beam for space)
stand up head (not porta potti)
12v Refrigeration
factory hard top
windlass
no triples
must be a solid smooth dry ride (coming out of a Regulator 26)
sure shade would be nice to have but not a must
no 350hp Yamahas

max budget would be less than 200k

Thanks

For a DC, I would put the standard Pursuit, GW, BW, EdgeWater, and Cobia on the list. Probably would also give Sailfish a hard look, too, along with World Cat if you are willing to look at different hull configurations. The stand-up head may be a little more challenging in the 27-28' range, though, unless you're looking at a cat.

Since the boats are used you'll get to see how the boat has held up, which is kind of a nice position to be in.

Prior to the current situation, good DC hulls had been disappearing quickly on the used market (at least when I was shopping they were), but I would bet that given the economy right now you'll be in a bit better position to take your time and look around for the right deal.

The layouts make all the difference, in my opinion. I'm on my 3rd DC now and am pretty happy my 248...but always looking for the next 2' jump.

Good luck

this one is on my current short list but the 307 is closer to the top because of larger beam/more space.

My 295 world cat dc has been a near perfect boat for us. Enclosed full head, bow seating area is huge and the rough water ride can’t be beat. I would think you could get one in very good shape at 200k or maybe a little less if you can find one.

At that price point you are looking used obviously and it will be boats that pre-date the 425s. Not sure i would be looking at anything larger than 28-30 with Yama 300s. Only boat with Mercs will be the Vantage 320 I think. Edgewater 280cx is on the smaller side. Pursuit 325 should be on the list. And Grady 307 Freedom. Personally a fan of the Cobia 280DC but definitely on the smaller end of your range (but you can def find one less than 2yrs old w 250s for under $200k). WorldCat maybe?

As mentioned earlier, with the 307 you would likely be looking at F350's which are NG on your list.

Anyone familiar with the Balckfins. I see they have a 272 DC.

Where does this boat land for quality. I understand it’s owned and built by Monterey Boats which makes me a bit suspect.

Thanks

The Blackfin that I was on last year looked really nice, but it was a little too glitz and glitter for my tastes. It may hold up just fine, but it looked like a lot of upkeep.

Are you planning to fish this, or just cruise?

I'm sure you've seen this ad already, but this is one that would be high on my list.

Take a test drive on a worldcat you want believe the ride. All mentioned above are all very nice choices. New 25dc world cat is 160+ depending on what you option for. 29 is over 200k. Worldcat dont come on the market used much and if they do they go fast.

Pursuit 295 or 325 DC would be on my shortlist if I was you. I came close to getting a 325 but opted for the 325 OS instead. I don't know if the 295 can have the electric sunshade but there is a manual type one you can put up with it. The extended swim platforms on them are great. Both come with twin 300 yamaha's which are great engines. The 325 also has the L shaped seat on the Port side which is nice, there is a new 326 that has some extra features like a side dive door but those are going to be out of your $200k range though because they are so new.
