Question value of 2 x 250 Yams 2006-4S.

I'm looking at a boat with 2 x 250 2006 yamahas with 237 hrs ...I want to repower with 300's, any idea what these are worth???

Thanks for your reply...

They are right in the middle of the midsection corrosion years... probably less than you'd like.

06 was at the end of the midsection issues. You could always pull the lower unit and take a look. I did on mine and don’t have corrosion visible. You will have dry salt on the sides and don’t get that confused with corrosion. The salt can be moved with the camera and you will probably have residual on the camera.

I have been paying attention to the prices as I have 12/06 and 01/07 motors and they are around 15-18k depending on hours and condition. What do they look like? Do they need to be repainted. If the look good I would say upwards of 18k. The 3.3s where one of the better motors made by Yamaha minus the corrosion part.

I sold a pair of 2003 F225's with 800 hours on them. Midsections had been done and I had redone the cowlings. They looked brand new. I got $11k without any controls. Just motors and props. I bet you could get $15k.

If the motors really have 237 hours and are in great shape, don't. If you are going brand new for the warranty, do.

As to value, could be a pretty wide range, but with such low hours, the upside is there. Perhaps 10k on the low end of rough and 15k if great. I recently sold a pair of 2008s and moved up to F300s.

‘06 was not the end of the corrosion issues. There was no end. Even mids that have been replaced need to be checked.

Obviously there’s anomalies and outliers but a majority of the failed midsections where not in 06 F250s like their were in previous years.

I would have said $10k. Surprised to see some say higher but I guess potential if in great condition.

I was told I could get 8K wholesale trade in for mine with 1050 hours. I would imagine retail for yours would be almost double that if you’re patient.
