Default World Cat with Mercs

Take a look at the latest World Cat instagram. They show a 280 CC-x at MIBS with MERCS. I called my dealer to see if it's an option going forward - He's looking into it. Anyone know anything more?

To the best cod my knowledge, WC is in bed with Yamaha, but that doesn’t mean it’s the only possibility.

I know someone who bought a brand new grady with no engines and put mercs on it. It is not unheard of.

Bobcat,

You found another! It was a 280CC-X with twin white merc 200's. Apparently some people buy the boats with no engines or rigging and WC lets them out the door to hang whatever you want on the back.

I thought the 280X was only rated for 400 total HP???

Morningstar - the pic bobcat posted was on a 325CC. The rig I spotted on world cats instagram was a 280CC-X with twin mercy 200's.

I guess what we are learning here is there are buyers willing to take the cat from the factory without the Yamahas and pay more to have a merc dealer hang their units

The boat pictured is at the boat show. It was factory rigged with Mercury for sure. WC may be in bed with Yamaha and out in the shed with Mercury.

WC is testing Merc V6 200's on the 280 CCX as the Yamaha's are V4's. Also the Merc 400's on the 325CC as we all know why we don't want to put the Yamaha 350... It's a possible available scenario, but so far just testing the waters so to speak.

In the end, yes. We have always had the ability to order one w/o pre-rigs and hang anything we please.

When I spoke with WC at FLIBS, I was told that they are now more flexible with the power that gets hung. Makes sense. There is 10x more competition in the cat market, they have to do offer something.

IMHO, it was smart move for WC to do it. I'm certain that Yamaha isn't happy. LOL.

like average Joe mentioned - they are simply offering the boat without rigging and engines. They aren't making it a factory option.

World cat responded directly to me via DM regarding the world cat I have being built:

"the mercury engines are a dealer installed option. Yamaha is the only factory option. The mercury option is significantly more money due to rigging occurring outside of the factory."
