Navonics app GPS?
#1

I’m headed to Chandeleur Islands in April and would like to use my Navionics app on my iPhone. Obviously, ATT doesn’t have a cell tower out there, so cellular service won’t work. Does the app work off of GPS for positioning? I don’t need it for weather, tides, etc, just would like to keep track of my position.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Went to the Keys with the family at Thanksgiving and haven't been there in 15 years so I wanted something to help me with channels, etc. We had a rental boat and there's no way I was going to trust that GPS unit with all the tracks from previous renters all over the map. Had the app on my phone and it worked like a champ. I put in the height of the boat w/ t-top, etc. and it even showed the bridges I could or couldn't fit under and would mark the course for me with that info in mind. Bigger issue for you in the Chandeleurs will be water depth, sandbars, etc. and having run around Mobile Bay & OBA with the app a few times it's pretty spot on in that regard as well. I think there's a crowd source aspect to it where I could mark a log, sandbar, etc on the map and it would update it for other users as well.
