Default Evinrude G2 500 Hour Service

I run twin G2 200HO's .. They have been awesome . I'm ready for my 500 hour service and got an estimate from local dealer (Boston Area) . The estimate is $3200-$3400 for the service. I certainly was expecting anything that high.

That's crazy high - $ 850 per motor about right - IMHO.

Did they itemize it? Be interesting to see the list.

I'm now hearing 7.25 hours labor/engine @ 1$30 per hour.

Sounds like they just don't need any more work right now.

Is that quote including sales tax and any travel, any boat service, or haulout fees? If so, then what is just the basic 500 hr service per motor and their labor rate per hour?

That way we can compare and evaluate the charges accurately.

Go to another dealer. That is way to high. Get an itemized list to break it down. Could be some crazy transport or storage fee they are charging.

Is this still accurate? It's not a short list, but I still don't see that kind of money. Going to a dealer with similar hourly rate, my Zukes would run something like $900 per. This list doesn't look much different. There are a few items extra but same the other way, most notably the oil change. Doing it myself, buying from the same dealer (vs. cheaper online), I want to say my parts cost was $300 or so.

As an etec owner for many years, ive never even come to that number
We pay for the 300 which is similar to the 500 on G2 about $1000 per motor

Just had a 3/300 on my G1 175 for $900. Not much more if anything to do on the G2.

Enter stage left, the Yamaha dancing girls and cheer squad, remaining centre stage front, the Evinrude fans, on bended knee, arms outstretched, trying to drown out the noise, enter stage right, the Mercury fan club, wishing they could buy a new motor, seated in the front, Honda owners, arms folded, not saying a word, just smiling.......

no other dealers?

that list of jobs looks like a good one to DIY. Get a buddy and a case of beer, and you’ll be way ahead.

I have emailed two dealers. The fist was the 3200-3400 including parts and labor. The second dealer said 7.25 hours labor per engine plus parts.
