Default 2005 115 Yamaha opinions and reviews?

Looking for some input on a 2005 115 Yamaha outboard approximately 650 hrs. Reliability and common problems. Thanks in advance.

I have that motor with 550 hours with no problems. Oil and filter changes every year and impeller every 5 years. No issues at all.

If you are changing "oil and filter" then you have an F115.

The OP may be inquiring about that motor -

or he might mean the 2-stroke 115

I like my pair of 2004 F114 four stroke Yammis. The only issue I have is letting them sit for far too long and having to change filters, fuel lines and clean injectors each season.

If you talk about F115. Do not buy any 4s outboard in that age if you cannot see condition of the exhaust . Remove lower unit and switch the torch and look up into exhaust . If you see Swiss cheese - forget about it .
no Yamaha will die of high hours meaning power head to become worn out - it will be inner rust that will end it .
i have two 2003 F115 that has just under 800 hrs and I replaced them both with other outboards as inner rust was bit high where one of engines had power head affected too. Previous owner did not look after them properly. Some People do not flush engine nor change inner or even visible outer anodes and that leads to catastrophic corrosion of inner cooling channels while exhaust corrosion is a combination of few factors ( not to go in detail )

@ 650 Hours I would proactively change the timing belt, service the VST and injectors, look her over for corrosion and then live long and prosper.....great engine.

Yep...he needs to make sure to stay on top of those anodes too.

I had an 05 F115 with over 1400 hours. Great motor. I would still have it but I swapped to a 150.

I never had a minute of problem from it.
