Exclamation 2015 Suzuki DF40A Corrosion

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on my 2015 DF40A Tiller steer.

I'm not an experienced mechanic but I usually do my own basic servicing as I live in remote Australia. Because it's difficult get to an authorised Suzuki dealer for servicing I had to start self servicing after the engine reached 3 years old, so i'm guessing I have no warranty. I have owned the engine since new.

I'm also fastidious when flushing my engine & never store it after use without a proper flush. The past year I started using "Salt away" additive to my flushes. The engine is used only in Saltwater.

The problem:
Recently I noticed the tell tale on the engine wasn't as strong as it normally is. It never got too hot or overheated but I decided to buy a water pump repair kit impeller/gaskets/sleeve/seal/plate & do it anyway, the last time it was done was 8 months/80 hours ago by a suzuki mechanic. I also checked the external & internal anodes and they are fine.

When I removed the steel plate under the impeller I noticed some corrosion (photo attached). I also noticed a fair bit of water coming out the 2 small holes at the front of the motor, I'm unsure if this is normal or not as it's not something I took notice of until recently but I attached a photo of that as well in case it helps (photo attached).

My questions are:

1. Is corrosion in that area the reason for the weaker tell tale? It's only about 30% weaker but it doesn't fire out like it used to.

2. Should I leave it the way it is seeing the engine runs fine and doesn't get too hot or is this something that needs fixing asap?

I'm unsure if this is something I shouldn't worry about unless overheating occurs/tell tale becomes weaker or if I should try to get it repaired immediately.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Here is a screen shot of my 2016 F60. Around 300 hours, haven't replaced the water pump. It does have the two streams coming out of the front of the lower unit.
The real pee tube stream is very strong.

I fluid film everything on my motor that looks like it might corrode. It’s cheap, non hazardous ( I guess) and it seems to work. I like that I can use it on electrical connections and it won’t mess them up. I use this stuff on the lawn mower, my adjustable bed, house door hinges, attic stairs, truck even the percolator plug on my coffee machine.

No problem. Hope you get the issue resolved. What does your closest dealer say? People are satisfied with support from Suzuki here in the USA.
