Default Yamaha T8 kicker power tilt

I know this come up many times but Im hoping someone might be able to pinpoint my perticular symptom in order for me to fix with proper parts,
The tilt will not power up or down unless I smack the elc tilt motor (using a piece of wood).
Do I need to replace motor or can take apart and replace some parts?
Thanks in advance for any help.

Brushes are likely worn down and sticking.
I replaced some with off the shelf brushes from a hardware store.
took the cap off the motor, slight PIA.

Probably not much more than buying brushes from Yamaha.

The link looks like it's for the starter, not for the power tilt motor. I looked into one once and it was ~400 for a t8.

Typo.
Link shows a tilt motor labeled as a starter motor.
