Solar panel charger under shrink wrap?

Anyone ever left a solar panel on the cockpit deck under the shrink wrap? There seems to be plenty of light coming in through the translucent wrap but Id like to hear if anyone has tried it.

are you stored afloat or ashore?

you dont need a charger if your batteries are completely charged and disconnected (so there is no drain). obviously that is not a good idea if you are stored afloat (to disconnect batteries if that will disconnect bilge pumps etc).

Mine was charging until the snow came.

The eye is very adaptable to light intensity. A Photovoltaic panel is not. If it charges at all under the film, it will be at a very low rate.

Those panels don't even work well when they are hit with sun at an angle. I'd be surprised if it did much of anything under a wrap.

make sure you dont just buy a panel, it has to be able to control it as well you will need a charging regulator or just buy an all in one kit
