If you look back at Fords there have been a few this happened to. My brakes were mechanical.

That's what I thought I did maybe but when the tow driver went out he had to take off the mechanical parking brake and he said the shifter was totally loose he could just fling it back and forth.

So you're saying that HD pickups with 30,000LB tow capacities should (or do) weigh 30,000LB or more themselves with a GCWR of 60,000LB? For a pickup? Not sure where you got that idea, but it's incorrect. You're saying a truck that weighs 8,000LB shouldn't be towing anything that weighs more than 8,000LB. That's just nonsense.

Most class 8 trucks weigh less than 20,000LB and have 80,000LB GVW which is the combined weight limit of the tractor and trailer. If the tractor weighs 17k then that means the trailer can weigh up to 63,000LB, nearly 4x the weight of the tractor.

I agree, that’s nonsense. My F150 with just me in it runs right around 5900-6000 lbs. my fathers 2500 Ram Cummins is right at 7000 lbs I loaded. To think I “should” only be able to pull 6000 and his only 1000 lbs more is... well crazy. Mine feels planted and good up to about 8000-8500, north of that I don’t like towing with it. His I’ve towed 10,500-11,000 and it towed well.

Never used chocks at a ramp.
But then I’ve never lost a truck and trailer back into the water, either.
Hmmm..... Something to think about in the future.


Fire caused by short when wet —- either battery or wiring anywhere inside.

Many cars and trucks have had "park to reverse" transmission issues that often result in very serious injury or death to anyone nearby. Just google "park to reverse." They are typically the result of design flaws and in current vehicles, even in software. Beware.
