Default Clanking noise only in gear 6 to 8 rpm ? Any Idieas ?

I have a 2013 f200 yamaha ., when I put it in gear I get a Clanking noise I am thinking in midsection . Only between 600 and 1k rpm . After 1k it gos away and can run at full throttle with no problem . Doesn't do it in neutral.

I always say check the obvious first. If it wasn't doing it before you serviced it then that's the place to look.

One suggestion is to check your anode/steering tab. The one on my F300 came a little loose and the prop was making it move back and forth. At low speed is was a very clear clanking noise.

Sounds to me like propeller rattle/chatter.

Is the motor an I4 F200 or a V6 F200?

Prop would be the first place to look.

It's an i 4 ... I put in new hub in it ...
so do you take the prop off then put it gear to determine if it's prop ? I am using a flo torque hub ....before I was using a rubex and had no issues.

Does that model use "anti-knock" washers?
Did you pull up on the driveshaft to take up the backlash when installing them?

It’s prop chatter. Just experienced the same thing on my 2016 F200XB.

From what I Read doesn’t hurt anything but is an annoyance.

I actually bought a new Yamaha Reliance prop (had a Solas prop) and it cleared it right up.

Since it doesn’t do it in neutral , I guess the prop hub. Is the source.

Aha!

Which flo torq hub? There are about four versions.

Put the Rubex back on and listen to the noise disappear. Or a Yamaha propeller with an SDS hub.

The source of the noise or the reason for the noise?

My 05 200s chatter at idle as well. So did my ox66 225. I don’t sweat it.
