Default Wreck anchor size for heavy 35’ sportfish

I upgraded from a 27’ pilothouse that weighed 6k lbs to a 35 Sportfish this season that weights 22k lbs and wanted to know what other people with similar sized/weight boats use for wreck anchors???? Want to be ready for blackfishing in Montauk soon enough!

The pilothouse held fine in rocks with an anchorman 12 lbs wreck anchor. The only other size they offer is 18lbs. Planned on calling them to see what they say - but have a feeling it will bend those tines pretty fast when fishing in the ocean in the fall weather...?

thanks in advance.

I have pretty much same sized boat but it weighs more like 33K pounds. We use an 18lb grappling anchor (see below link). We do bend the tines occasionally, but easy to bend back. They're pretty cheap to purchase as well so we don't lose sleep when one stays attached to the wreck.

Thank you, very good to know. Do you fish in the bays or ocean. That is the same brand anchor i used on previous boat, but the smaller model.

How much chain and what size rode do you use? Do you rig to breakaway or just use a poly ball and re bend each time?

about 12' of chain on 300' of 1/4 inch line (works with our windlass). we use a ball, no zip ties.
