I will be reaching out to Stephen today, letting him know what I would like to do re: patches and I will let him tell me when they are ready to let that process start. After he gives the green light Iíll contact the fire dept and see how theyíd like to handle it. Maybe they will have already set up a fund and payment can go directly there.

I thought it might be nice to have the boys initials on the patches, if thereís room. The family will decide that.

The details are easy, itís the timing thatís not, and the family will make that call.

Iíd like for those kids to one day see a patch or sticker and think ďMy Dad is still saving lives.Ē

The outpouring of kindness, love and compassion Iíve seen here really makes me proud to be a part of this community. I work in Fairfax county almost every work day, so this kinda hits home to me as well. Not a day goes by that I donít see at least one fire truck racing to some where.
I also think some patches and stickers is a wonderful idea. I collect patches any way for some strange reason. Lol.
Iím waiting for a link for a local donation when available. Sorry if Iíve missed it. Please share when available. Thank you all. Chris.

Just a suggestion. It maybe helpful if one of you S FL guys with some space at home or work could volunteer to park this truck and trailer until emotions calm a bit for these families. Im sure the last thing they are going to want to see is that empty trailer. Just a thought.

I have plenty of room and a secure gated facility in Sanford and would be happy to drive down an pick it up. They could come get it at their leisure..

Has anyone seen these pictures posted last night on FB in the CC only group??? I’m not sure exactly where this buoy is, but they said the USCG has been notified and is investigating.

And I'd like to offer a different thought on this very well meant suggestion. If those were my loved ones I would want to see the "memorial" that has been created on the trailer for my loved ones. I realize that many would like to shield them from the pain but there is a grieving process they need to go through and this is part of the process.

Maybe take a picture of the trailer as decorated before it moves. That would be a powerful picture that shows the support and care of fellow boater, firefighters and a caring local community.

On FB are numerous photos of the Truck and Trailer, still parked as of last night, at Port Canaveral. It is covered in flowers of tribute and loss.

I'm telling you, if they are in the water they are not getting by the OBX without being spotted. Gulfstream comes in real close and lots of boats fishing that stretch of water.

This discovery should be posted in the NC subforum.

I just called USCG sector North Carolina after being referred to them by USCG Oak Island. Oak Island hasnít heard anything new and Sector NC says theyíve had people sending photos from buoys but until a boater reports something more concrete they wonít investigate.

If I had a big enough boat Iíd be heading to the tower.
