Default Albemarle 248XF

Hi,

Been looking old post regarding Albemarle 248XF but did not find much.
Can anyone give me an opinion on this boat.
Found (in Europe) a 2004 with Yanmar diesel 240 hp in mint condition for 33k .
Was delivered by factory with this engine or was mounted in a later stage ?
Isn't it underpowered with this configuration ?

The other option are :
1)2008 Pursuit OS255 with 2x150 Yammy for 45k
2)2005 Carolina Classic 25 to be repowered for 15k

I’ve had two, Albemarle 242’s and wouldn’t hesitate to have another. Same hull as the 248. Both of mine had gasoline 270 HP and were fine. I wouldn’t think the VP diesel would have any issues. Yes, it was likely delivered with that power plant. Outstanding boat and outstanding sea keeping ability.

Sea trial it to make sure you like it but that diesel will be fine. Make sure it doesn’t have the XDP plastic/composite outdrive (which, it shouldn’t as I think they were only offered in 06-07). You likely have the VP DPSM, which is a great drive.

They really are fantastic boats built close to my location. Post up a photo and good luck.

Thanks a lot for sharing, however she has a Yanmar 4LHA STP and not a VP.

That-was also an option from the factory. There was a 242 close to me that had the Yanmar. Tight under the console, however, yours will be in a deck box with plenty of room around it.
